Dear Friend, I’m so thankful you’ve joined us here at Scottsdale Bible. One of our primary values is authentic community. We all need a group of people who can get to know us personally, share life with us and encourage us to pursue Jesus. We believe life is better when lived in community. Whether you’re new to our church or have been attending for years, I invite you to read through this catalog and choose a place to take your next step. It’s a great way to explore the many ways to grow in relationships within our church community. Whatever your life stage, interests or faith experience, there’s a place for you here. Our lives are truly more purposeful and glorifying to God when we journey together with one another. Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as we see the Day drawing near. (Hebrews 10:24-25)
Your pastor and friend, Jamie Rasmussen

Moving on After Moving In
Comfort My People: Isaiah 40-66 (Precept Study)
This is the place to be when you are new in town! Join us for a powerful, hands-on study using biblical principles and practical application to help women who are going through the transition and adjustment of moving find the courage to put down roots all over again. This study will help women with the process of letting go, starting over, and moving ahead with life after a move. Based on the book After the Boxes are Unpacked, the class materials are designed to minister to the heart of newcomers.
In Isaiah 40-66, the Lord speaks words of comfort to Israel through His prophet. He enables the exiles to see their whole life, including their captivity, in light of their relationship with their God. Isaiah identifies the places they do not trust and obey and tries to convey what sin really is. This study reveals the faithful heart of Jesus Christ as well as His amazing plans for the future of Israel and the world. You will learn a powerful way to study the Bible yourself in this class. No videos.
Embracing God's Truth About Me
Ephesians
God Himself is the source and object of our joy as believers. Our joy is rooted in our understanding of who Christ is, what He has done for us, and who we are in Christ. As we continue to grow in and embrace His truths for us personally (in both heart and mind), then our joy will be evident and contagious. Join us in this interactive class as we study and embrace the powerful truths of our identity in Christ – who God says we are!
In this study, Paul will remind us of the true riches we already possess as followers of Jesus Christ. We will learn how to go beyond just professing the faith to possessing the faith. Embracing this great truth will enable you to endure trials and suffering, maintain unity with other believers, live out the gospel in your marriage and family relationships, pray with power and use your spiritual armor to ward off Satan’s attacks. We will unpack the book of Ephesians to reveal the countercultural nature of the gospel and see there is something sacred at stake in every moment. Sound teaching, vibrant illustrations, and conversation will equip you with practical life application for a stronger, more active, and more dynamic faith. We will study Dr. Warren Wiersbe’s book Be Rich – Gaining Things That Money Can’t Buy.
Teacher: Susan Miller
Teacher: Pat Sloan
Philippians: The Fight for Joy & Colossians: Christ is Enough Teachers: Julie Dickison and Nichole Nicholls
Joy often seems just out of our reach. Hard times, conflict, and the struggles of daily life threaten our ability to rejoice and stand firm. But we have a glorious Savior! In Christ, we find the source of true joy and the power to walk in newness of life. Join us as we study the books of Philippians and Colossians and reignite your passion to live for Christ! This in-depth study involves daily homework, small group discussion, and Biblical teaching that will challenge us to apply God's Word deeply into our everyday lives and brokenness. 1 Peter: Standing Firm in Shaky Times Teachers: Joan Lazear and Polly Wick
The believers addressed in Peter’s first letter were suffering due to escalating persecution. This letter teaches believers how to live victoriously in the midst of hostility. The relevance of 1 Peter has been proven true for two thousand years and beckons us to take heed. Together we will read Dr. Warren Wiersbe’s book Be Hopeful and engage in highly interactive discussion and encouraging questions.

If this is your first Bible tour, you will be amazed at how much clearer the Bible will become and how much more confident you will be to pass your faith on to your children. In these times, it’s more important than ever to know what you believe and why, so come be enlightened, encouraged, and equipped for the days ahead.

CHILDREN SUNDAY MORNINGS Nursery to 5th Grade Sundays, 9:15 and 11am
Our weekly children’s programs include fun large group time with singing, teaching and puppets. We are currently studying The Gospel Project, a chronological study of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Our kids are also encouraged to participate in outreach projects and give their coins in support of missions. _________________________________________________________________________________________________
PARENT-CHILD DEDICATIONS
Sundays, September 13 and December 13
Parent-child dedications are an opportunity for parents to publicly commit to raising their children in a Christ-centered home. The ceremony features a blessing over the child that includes a prayer created and read aloud by the parent(s). Scheduled periodically, most dedications are held during our weekend services, but private ceremonies are also an option. Sign up at scottsdalebible.com/events. _________________________________________________________________________________________________
STUDENTS SUNDAY MORNINGS
Grades 6-12 Sundays, 11am, Student Lounge
Join with other students each Sunday as we build relationships, get to know God, and learn how the Bible relates to our daily lives. Students are challenged to “takeover” the morning by volunteering to help in all areas: teaching, worship, games and/or greeting. This is a unique opportunity for students to challenge themselves in leadership. _________________________________________________________________________________________________
JUNIOR HIGH SMALL GROUP Wednesdays, 6:30pm, Student Lounge
In our Wednesday small groups, we strive to provide a place for students to further their understanding of God, the Bible and themselves. Come see your spiritual life grow, and form meaningful friendships as you take your relationship with God to the next level.

It began in 2005 with a simple mission: to support a small group of orphans in Kenya whose parents died of AIDS. In 2007, Pastor Joseph came to Mountain Valley Church with the hope of gaining the commitment of eight sponsors. After sharing the heartbreaking story and plight of the orphans in his community, the church responded with 76 commitments. With several churches and donors now throughout the U.S., construction funds and more sponsors have started supporting the orphans. In 2012, Africa Hope Center moved into its new home with 110 children being housed, fed and educated. They also receive medical attention and counseling. To adopt an orphan or donate toward the Center, contact mountainvalley@scottsdaledalebibile.com. _________________________________________________________________________________________________
