Just call me a daddy’s girl; I won’t deny it. Creativity was a gift passed down from my dad. For 40 years, he has dabbled in professional photography. His love of landscape and wildlife photography continues, and he is rarely without his camera. My story began during my sophomore year of high school following a life threatening band injury (yes, you read that correctly). I was sidelined for many weeks, and traded my saxophone for a camera. Some extraordinary photos of that band practicing sparked my own passion for photography. Being the only student permitted to carry my camera throughout the school day, I captured many school events and did many of my peer’s senior portraits (including my own). After that, I attended Shepherd University (in West Virginia), graduating with a BFA in Photography and Computer Imagery. The camera in my hand is a well travelled Graphlex Super Graphic 4x5. From “The Flying Tigers” in Burma before WWII to a historic steam train of the Appalachian mountains, this camera has clocked many miles, not to mention capturing a part of history. I am now the proud owner of this camera and although it no longer works, it is a continuous source of inspiration for me. I am now celebrating my three year anniversary of my business, Sarah Marcella Creative. My dad continues to mentor and motivate me, often as my second shooter at various events. When I’m overworking, his creative passion reminds me of my love for photography. So, whether you’re looking for someone to capture your family’s next holiday card, or taking your business to the next level, I would be honored to work with you.
