JUPITER LIGHTHOUSE
A historic landmark and local treasure, the Jupiter lighthouse is the oldest building in Palm Beach County. Dating back to the 1880s, it was designed by George Gordon Meade who later went on to famously defeat General Robert E. Lee at the Battle of Gettysburg. The location on the lighthouse dates back to the ancient Native Americans of the area who used the point where the Indian River intersects with the Jupiter Inlet as a meeting place. Visitors can climb the stairs of the lighthouse and learn its history in the on-site museum.

JUPITER TRAIN STATION
The Jupiter Train Depot was built in 1915 by Henry Flagler. The charming, bright yellow train depot serves to highlight the history of Flagler’s presence in Florida. All of Flagler’s depots were painted yellow as it was his favorite color. The depot currently stands to allow visitors to walk through the original structure of the depot and learn more about Jupiter’s unique history during this period.
One key fact to note is that out of the original 28 depots that were located from Jacksonville to Key West, there are only eight left. The depot was used for a variety of things and passengers weren’t the only riders. Fruits and plants were shipped on the trains, as was daily mail. Live animals were shipped to northern zoos by Trapper Nelson, who set up a homestead-turned-zoo on the shore of the Loxahatchee River in the 1940s. Later known as the Florida East Coast Railway, Henry Flagler’s railroad is one of the most wellknown aspects of South Florida history.
MALTZ JUPITER THEATER
Originally the Burt Reynolds Dinner Theater, the regional Maltz Jupiter Theater was brought back to life in the early 2000s hosting local and national productions. Rich with history, in its heyday the regional Maltz Jupiter Theater welcomed more celebrities than any other Palm Beach County venue. Now named in honor of founding members and generous supporters Milton & Tamar Maltz, the theater as it stands today was resurrected in 2001. As a nonprofi t entity, the theater provides educational opportunities for aspiring actors and has grown to be the largest regional theater in the state.
