Welcome to our little island, 30 miles out to sea. As a Nantucket native, I have worked at, alongside, and as a partner to many island businesses. It has led me to believe that it is the faces behind each business that make them successful. Our community is full of entrepreneurs, makers, and artists. My goal is to support them so they can continue to follow their passions and help our community. As an avid traveler and a small business owner, I believe Nantucket is truly a unique place to live, visit, and run a business. Nantucket businesses face challenges that are unique to our island and that is one reason why we do what we do. This book is a celebration of our local businesses and organizations that keep this community strong. I hope the pages of this guide inspire discovery— discovery of our local businesses, events and programming, and for taking in all that Nantucket has to offer. Browse the guide, display it, share it with family and friends, but most importantly, use it. Whether you’re a visitor, newcomer, or longtime local, I hope this guide helps you engage with the people, businesses, and nonprofits of Nantucket on a deeper level, and in doing so, helps you enhance your life and allows you to enjoy our community to the fullest. I am proud to represent the businesses and community members in Volume 3. I hope you enjoy these pages that Stacey and I have poured some long hours into, but more than anything, my wish is that Volume 3 encourages you to support our local businesses and nonprofits as they have supported us. Follow along online as we continue to share stories about the people and places that make Nantucket the extraordinary place that I love.

SAMANTHA PEBLEY has long held Nantucket in a special place in her heart. After her parents honeymooned here, she grew up coming to the island in both the summer and off-season with her family. From sun-soaked beach days, to sailing lessons, to college summer jobs in town, to cherished holiday weekends, her enthusiasm for the unique ecosystem that is Nantucket runs deep. When not on island, Samantha works in New York City in digital advertising. However, she often escapes back from the big city and relishes taking long walks on the beach with her pup Tuck (aptly named) and enjoying the fresh island air.
EDWARD T. WRIGHT III is a longtime Nantucket summer resident with roots in both Palm Beach and Nantucket. His parents and grandparents wintered in Palm Beach and spent their summers on Nantucket. His father and grandmother, a well known socialite, discovered the island in the late 1970s and fell in love from the minute they stepped onto her shores. Edward has many fond childhood memories on the island, from surfi ng on the south shore to sailing in the sound. Edward, a.k.a. “Townie” or “The Watch Guy”, owns and operates The Trinity Collection which is a high-end watch and jewelry store. If you are looking for a rare vintage watch or a hard-to-get modern timepiece, he is the go-to for many heads of industry, celebrities, and rock stars. Specializing in Patek Philippe, Rolex, Cartier, and others, his collection is astounding. He is very knowledgeable about both Nantucket and fi ne timepieces and always willing to chat about both.
Nantucket native D.W. COFFIN is a thirteenthgeneration descendant of Tristam Coffi n, head of one of the seven families that founded the island. Proud of his Nantucket heritage, D.W. reflects, “There’s a pride, camaraderie, and toughness that carry every single person who’s from here. There’s an honor to it and a sense of respect that we’re just passing through here to take care of the island.” You’ll often fi nd him around town or fi shing at Smith Point, then grilling at sunset with bonfi res on the beach. As founder and CEO of numerous startups that offered revolutionary introductions and acted as change agents in the industry, his appreciation and passion for the entrepreneurial spirit is near and dear to his heart. D.W. now focuses on various investments and spends his time between Nantucket and Palm Beach.
A Boston native, KATE LUBIN has been spending time on Nantucket for over 20 years. Kate has been with The United Way for over a decade and sits on the board of Horizons for Homeless Children, among other charity work. Kate enjoys golf and tennis and resides in Boston with her husband Glen and twin daughters, Stella and Sly.

One of our editor’s favorite spots on island, Brant Point Light is the second oldest lighthouse in America and has been in service for over 250 years. It welcomes you as you come into the harbor and is there to bid you farewell. The tradition is to throw a penny toward the lighthouse on your departure to assure a safe return.
As its namesake implies, an expansive wooden staircase must be descended to get to the beach, but the journey is worth it. Lovely views of Nantucket Sound and Great Point. Located on the north end of the island between Dionis and Jetties Beaches, Steps boasts the most dramatic views of any island beach.
NA N T U C KE T W H A L I N G MU S E UM Run by the Nantucket Historical Association, the Whaling Museum tells the island's fascinating stories through permanent and rotating exhibitions in nine premium galleries with over 1,000 works of art, artifacts, and treasures from four centuries of history. Be sure to climb the circular staircase to Tucker’s Roofwalk for a panoramic view of the harbor. nha.org
Everyone's favorite brewery! Cisco was founded in 1995 and is a ‘must see’ on any visit to the island. A place where time slows and conversation flows, where tourists become locals and smiles are served by the pint. Since 1995, Cisco Brewers has bottled up that “happiest place on earth” energy into every beer they serve! ciscobrewers.com
Offering a premier beachfront dining experience, Galley Beach restaurant is set on Cliffside Beach on the north end of the island. One of the best places to see the sunset and arguably all of New England. Enjoy cocktails or dinner around a firepit with your toes in the sand as you watch the sun go down! galleybeach.net
S A N KAT Y HEAD LIG HT
A beloved Nantucket icon, Sankaty Head Light was built in 1849 and is visible 25 miles out to sea. After facing many years of erosion, The ‘Sconset Trust took ownership of the lighthouse in 2007 when it sat 68 feet from the bluff. The Trust undertook to move the lighthouse 405 feet to keep it safe from the bluff ’s edge. sconsettrust.org

Offering the quintessential beachfront Nantucket experience with a spacious open-air restaurant and plenty of seating in the surrounding sand. Enjoy the raw bar, delicious burgers, and sandwiches, and fresh seafood. Be sure to check out their beach shop for some gear. At low tide, this beach is great for finding shells and sea glass. jettiessandbar.com

Towering more than 60 feet, this historic lighthouse was established in 1784. Officially, Nantucket Light is the most powerful light in New England, Great Point is located on the northernmost point of the island out past Wauwinet. For a great Nantucket adventure, the grounds can be accessed by foot (a seven-mile walk in the sand) or by fourwheel drive vehicle. Don’t forget your beach permit and to air down your tires before you drive on the beach!
'SCONSET B L U F F WA L K
An exceptional walk on footpath atop the east shore bluffs that cuts between a cluster of houses. About two miles round trip, the views are beautiful and a walk through Siasconset village (also known as ‘Sconset) is a real treat! This quaint fishing village has remained nearly unchanged since the early 1700s when Nantucket town residents began summering here.
