Internship Information Document Start date: Mid-May

Deadline for applications: 7th May 2022 Description: The Short-term Interns will work at two of National Scout Centres based in Ireland. On this placement you can expect some of the following: 1. Customer service experience. 2. IT skills - the participants will be given training in our Online booking system and administration systems along with an opportunity to work on marketing and graphics should they be interested. 3. Activity training and delivery 4. Facilities management 5. And many more. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone of Rover/Ranger/Guider age that is looking to grow themselves in many aspects of life. You will get a taste of what it is like working and running a National Scout Centre. You will also be provided with accommodation and food allowances, given the year that we have all had this opportunity will be well suited to anyone looking to move out of home for a summer period.

Need to be at least 18 years of age or older. Can communicate in both spoken and written English. Is a member of Scouting Ireland, Irish Girl Guides, & Catholic Guides of Ireland.

Skills & Qualifications: •

Essential: o Work as a team o Work on their own initiative o Effective communication skills o Positive attitude to work and others. Desirable: o Is involved in a Scout or Guide group o Experience in working on a Scout or Guide Campsite o Experience in the outdoors o Willing to lead and/or work with others.


Internship Information Document Description of different areas: During your time with us, you will have the opportunity to experience what goes on behind the scenes of running a campsite by working alongside our campsite teams. Campsite Team: Those working on the campsite team will work with Centre Management & Volunteers on various projects, help maintain the camping grounds, cleaning the facilities, assisting guests, maintaining rental equipment, and staffing the campsite reception. •

Main Tasks: o Always ensure a high quality of guest service o Work outdoors to maintain the camping grounds and facilities o Work at the Campsite Reception o Be “On Call” on a rotational basis, including helping guests outside working hours and assisting in the emergencies should you be required. Other responsibilities: o Support all staff working at the Centre o Participate in staff training and development o Assist in other areas of the Centre when necessary

Program Team: Those working on the program team will work with National Activities Coordinator & External activity instructors in providing activities on-site, Evening Program, developing innovative ideas, developing activity areas, maintaining activity equipment. •

Main Tasks: o Assisting with activities o Maintaining self-lead program materials o Developing new program ideas Other responsibilities: o Assist in other areas of the Centre when required

Management: The intern team will have weekly meetings with the management team to cover operational matters and regular one-to-one check-ins will be held.
