Adventure Skills Facilitator The training team of Scouting Ireland is happy to announce that the first Adventure Skills Facilitator courses are being launched. The adventure skills facilitator is an integral part of the Woodbadge scheme. Every scouter is required to achieve two Adventure Skills Facilitator in order to be awarded their Woodbadge. The Adventure Skills Facilitator for Hillwalking, Emergencies and Backwoods are now being launched. Both hillwalking and Emergencies are being run in partnership and under the auspices of the relevant national service providers. Hillwalking The Hillwalking Adventure Skills Facilitator has been aligned with the Mountain Skills Training 1 course which is provided by Mountaineering Ireland accredited trainers. This means that on completion of the course participants will receive a Mountain Skills Training 1 certificate and an Adventure Skills Facilitator (Hillwalking) certificate. This is a weekend residential course and all experience levels are welcome. These courses will be provided throughout the country. On completion of the course participants must inform Scouting Ireland by emailing their certificate to trainingbookings@scouts.ie in order to be awarded their Adventure Skills Facilitator and have their training record updated. If you have completed a Mountain Skills Training 1 course or higher in the last twelve months simply contact Scouting Ireland in order to gain accreditation for your Adventure Skills Facilitator (Hillwalking). Emergencies The Emergencies Adventure Skills Facilitator has been aligned with the REC level 3 course which is provided by Rescue Emergency Care or Remote Emergency Care accredited trainers. Similar to the hillwalking this means that on completion on the course participants are awarded both a REC 3 certificate and an Adventure Skills Facilitator (Emergencies) certificate. This is also a weekend residential course and all experience levels are welcome. These courses are also provided throughout the country.
