Jason Lin, piano Jason Lin, from Plano, Texas, is a junior at Emory studying chemistry and music. He has been playing piano for 14 years and currently studies under Elena Cholakova. Since beginning his study of piano at age six with Melody Ouyang, Lin has gone on to receive top honors at state, regional, and national competitions including the Music Teachers National Association National Competition, Arthur Fraser International Piano Competition, and most recently, the Emory Concerto and Aria Competition. Lin debuted with the Plano Symphony Orchestra at age 10 and was invited back to perform for 8,000 students as part of its outreach program. At age 14, he performed with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) as a result of winning first prize at the Lynn Harrell Concerto Competition. Lin is a member of Mu Phi Epsilon and a Winship Arts Volunteer. Outside of music, he serves as an organic chemistry teaching assistant, conducts research at the School of Medicine, and volunteers at a non-profit organization as a mentor and SAT tutor. In his spare time, Lin likes to travel, cook new foods, and learn foreign languages. He would like to thank his parents and grandparents for their unending love and support; his past teachers, including Alex McDonald, Marcy McDonald, and Patricia Dinkins-Matthews; as well as his friends and mentors.
