Biography
Jessie Zhu is a fourth-year student at Emory University pursuing an Economics/Mathematics and Music Performance double major. She has been playing piano for 14 years and is currently studying under Dr. Elena Cholakova. Since she was 8, she has competed in multiple state-wide and regional competitions in both Missouri and Georgia, such as GMTA, GMEA, and GHP. Since her time at Emory, she has attended the Solinaria Music Festival in Bulgaria as a pianist.
Outside of music, Zhu serves as President of Emory Economics Review and Senior Advisor for Emory Women in Economics. She is also a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon and the Economics Honors Program. After graduation, she will begin a Predoctoral Research Fellowship at UC Berkeley and plans to pursue a PhD in Economics in the future.
In her free time, she likes to watercolor paint, read classical literature, and attend hot yoga classes. Over the weekends, she occasionally hosts a free music program for children at a local community center and teaches music lessons.
Zhu would like to thank her parents for inspiring her inside and outside of music; her friends for their constant support; and her current and past teachers for their guidance.
