Anna Ree, mezzo-soprano Anna Ree is a senior in Emory College of Arts and Sciences pursuing a double major in psychology and music performance for voice. She has studied vocal performance for eight semesters under the tutelage of Abigail Santos, Bradley Howard, and Hanna Song. Her involvement in music around campus extends to several clubs and activities. She is a soprano in the Emory Concert Choir and has performed with the ensemble for the past four years in concerts including A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols. She is a member of the Gathering, Emory’s only all female-identifying a capella group, and has performed in several musicals for Ad Hoc, Emory’s student musical theater group. Outside of music she is a resident advisor for the first-year community, an active participant in Dooley’s Players’ (Emory’s student theater group), a performer in productions such as In Earnest and Peerless, vice president of Alpha Psi Omega, and a member of the Rodman Research Lab. She recently completed an honors thesis with the psychology department under the guidance of Hillary Rodman through which she studied the effects of certain types of music on healthy sleep, as can be seen in the presentation interspersed with performance here. Ree is fascinated about the way that artistry interacts with sleep. While Ree admits she has no idea how she is fumbling her way through life at the moment, she is exceedingly grateful for the brilliant and supportive individuals who have provided her with motivation and enthusiasm to pursue music, even when it is hard. Ree would like to thank God; her incredible parents; her fantastic siblings Alex, Katie, and Olivia; the phenomenal Hanna Song, the brilliant Bradley Howard, and all of the friends and community that have made this recital possible.
