DANA POINT, CA - The Women’s Division season comes to an end as the Final Round of the Southern California PGA Women’s Section Championship concluded today at Monarch Beach Golf Links.
Nikki Prichard of Arrowood Golf Course is the 2022 Women’s Section Champion after posting a two-day total of four-over par, 144, to win her first Championship title by a single stroke.
Coming into the final round two-shots off the lead, Prichard knew that she had some work to do to catch the four-time Champion Lehua Wise. After making the turn in the final round, Prichard’s eyes were firmly set on the prize and it all culminated with her birdie on the final hole of the Championship to claim victory!
After the awards presentation, Nikki said, “I’m feeling very happy! It was a fun couple days with some great players and Monarch was in beautiful shape. I think my biggest takeaway was staying in the moment, and I can say that this is a big accomplishment for me. I’m very thankful to the SCPGA for hosting a great Championship for the Women’s Division.”
Winning the SCPGA Women’s Section Championship Senior Division was Marianne Huning of Bel-Air Country Club, with a two-day total of 19-over par, 159.
The Championship was also the final event to earn points for Rolex Women’s and Senior Women’s Player of the Year. Congratulations to Dr. Alison Curdt, PGA, for claiming the Rolex Women’s Player of the Year honors with 261 points over six events.
Congratulations are also in order to Marianne for earning the Rolex Women’s Senior Player of the Year title, with 200 points over three events. Both Alison and Marianne will be honored at the annual SCPGA President’s Dinner for their POY titles.
Special thanks to partners Amy Sport, Maui Jim, XXIO, PGA TOUR, Vibe, Therabody, Seaweed Bath Company, Mark King and High Noon, along with host PGA Professionals Eric Lohman, Anthony Lanza, Brandon Delgado, and the rest of the Monarch Beach Golf Links staff.
