SEAT

SEAT is committed to a policy of continuous product development and reserves the right to make changes to specifications, colours and prices without notice. The information in this brochure can therefore be given as guidance only. While SEAT makes every effort to ensure that specifications are accurate at the time of publication (15.05.2007), you should always check with your authorised SEAT Partner for the latest information. Due to limitations of the printing process the colours reproduced in this brochure may vary slightly from the actual paint colour and material. This vehicle and all its parts, as well as the original spares, were designed according to the Legal Regulations governing the prevention and minimisation of Environmental Impact, through the use of recycled/recyclable materials, with measures taken to achieve suitable recycling for the conservation and improvement of environmental quality.

The following pages contain 4250 words. Conventional isn’t one of them. Some people can be slow to embrace the unfamiliar. And it’s true, the Altea isn’t your ordinary car. Open-minded types however, will appreciate its adaptability, its clever use of space, and its sheer versatility. So for those who baulk at the idea of driving another cookie-cutter MPV, we’d like to introduce an ‘alternative’ alternative.

DESIGN

New ideas rarely come from thinking in straight lines. A glance at the Altea’s contours provides our first clue that its designers see the world that little bit differently. From the chromed front grill, past the feline slant of the halogen headlights, the eye is inexorably drawn to the SEAT signature – the Dynamic Line that arcs dramatically along the body and accentuates the car’s fluid curves.

DESIGN

We’re big on little details. The Altea’s recessed wipers automatically respond to the first drop of rain*. After the last drop, they politely disappear again into the A-pillars. Not wanting to be left out, those A-pillars perform a neat trick of their own by heating up to prevent the wipers from icing up when things get chilly. Like the door handles, the side mirrors are bodycoloured** – unless they’re dressed in their FR best, in which case they’re silver. The FR also sports 17” alloys instead of the usual 16”. Fog lamps are standard on the Stylance, Sport-up and FR models (just in case you run into some weather that’s, well, out of the ordinary). * Refers to Stylance, Sport-up and FR ** Excludes Reference version

Non-standard cabin as standard. We all need our personal space. And the way we see it, you shouldn’t have to give it up just because you’re sitting in a car. The Altea’s innovative design results in three cubic metres of cabin space and a higher than average roofline, giving it more front headroom than any other car in its class.

COMFORT

Cabin Space

Come on in, we’ll give you the guided tour. Over on your left, wraparound front seats are finished in new upholstery, and in the Stylance and Sport-up models they’re height-adjustable as well as lumbar-adjustable. In the rear, we also fitted fold-down ‘airplane-style’ shelves. Those in the back are assured of a seat in First Class though, thanks to an unrivalled amount of space between the rear passengers.

Versatility

It’s. Not. Natural. For. Power. To. Pause. That’s why the Altea is available with a Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG). DSG eliminates the usual conflict between sportiness, convenience and economy to deliver a smoother and more responsive drive.

We admit, there is one thing about the Altea that will seem familiar. Whether you’re more comfortable with petrol or diesel, each Altea model produces that familiar sporty sound that characterises SEAT engines. It’s what we call SEATsound. 2007 sees two new models added to the range – one of which is the 160 hp 1.8 TSI. TSI provides extra bite by using direct injection technology, boosted by a turbocharger. In addition, the popular 105 hp 1.9 TDI will no doubt become even more popular, as it’s now available with DSG and a Diesel Particle Filter (DPF).

Building a reputation. It won’t surprise you to learn that the Altea’s chassis is no ordinary chassis. Like all SEATs, instead it’s built on what we call an ‘Agile’ chassis. Highly rigid and finely tuned, it turns the steering, brakes, transmission and body into a single, responsive unit that instantly transforms your every intention into a precise manoeuvre. But that’s not the whole story. When it comes to a car’s handling characteristics, the design of the rear axle is crucial. That’s why the Altea is equipped with an advanced Multilink Rear Axle, resulting in unparalleled levels of agility, safety and comfort.

Technology-wise, the interior is bristling with Hey I wonder what this button does? If chin-rubbing, pencil-biting and ear-fiddling ever become Olympic events, look out for us on the podium. An unusual amount of thought has gone into the Altea’s interior, which explains why there’s a switch for your every whim.

Technology

If you’re the type who likes to tick boxes, you’re going to need a few more. The Altea’s multi-function steering wheel* gives you fingertip control over the radio/CD/MP3 player, which is available with AUX-in, iPod® and USB ports. Bluetooth is also at your fingertips, as is cruise control and two-zone Climatronic**. Helping you to escape the masses is our optional Dynamic Navigation System. It’s there to keep you one step ahead with real-time updates – when you’re stuck in a jam the system re-routes you at the touch of a button. Rear passengers get to tick a box of their own. This one’s mounted in the roof and includes handy storage compartments as well as an optional, fold-down 7” (TFT) screen with iPod®, DVD and video console connections***. * Optional in the Reference ** Excludes Reference model *** Excludes Reference and FR models Wraparound front seats Two-Zone Climatronic Radio/CD/MP3 player available with AUX-in, iPod® and USB ports
