Impact REPORT

ATHLETIC EXCELLENCE

“Coach Steve Costanzo has recruited an incredible team of student-athletes, coaches, alumni and friends who share a vision to restore Huskies Wrestling to the national spotlight. It demonstrates that success happens as a result of vision and strategy, and must be supported by alumni engagement and giving.” -Heather Weems Director of Athletics ____

“St. Cloud State has been good for me. I was well equipped with the education I received through the accounting program at the school of business and the life lessons learned through Huskies wrestling. It is a joy for me to be a part of continuing the cycle of developing life champions through SCSU.” -Grant Nelson ’63 Pictured above: Grant Nelson (right) with Wrestling Coach Steve Costanzo

ATHLETIC EXCELLENCE:

2015 NCAA Champions

St. Cloud State won its first ever national championship in any sport when Huskies Wrestling claimed the NCAA Division II national team title in March 2015 at the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri. “I hope that this opens up a new era at St. Cloud State” said Coach Steve Costanzo, who came to the program 9 years ago with a goal of winning a national championship. Coach Costanzo’s teams were Division II runners up in 2011 and 2013. Helping lead the team to its title was individual national champion Tim Prescott, a 125-pound junior from McPherson, Kansas. “I came to SCSU, gave it my all and just kept pushing forward. It’s just unreal.” said Prescott. All six of St. Cloud State’s tournament wrestlers gained All-American status for the Huskies.
