Since2011,SierraCanyonSchoolhasbeenextremelyfortunatetohaveChrisTillmanasan UpperCampusMathteacherandMathTeamCoach.Duringhistenure,Mr.Tillmanhas doneoutstandingworktomotivatehisstudentsinmathematicsandhasbuiltoneofthe topcompetitiveMathTeamsinthecountry.Today,theSierraCanyonMathTeamprogram hasover130studentsfromGradesKindergartenthrough12.

Duringthespringseason,ourstudent-athletesreachednewheightsandmade SierraCanyonhistory.OurBoysSwimTeamwontheDivision4CIF-SSchampionship, andEugeneB.'24threw55feet6inchesintheshotputtowintheDivision3CIF-SSTrack& Fieldindividualevent.Thisyear,ourstudent-athletesmadeschoolhistorybywinningfour southernsectionchampionships(GirlsVolleyball,Football,GirlsBasketball,andSwim).

TheSchoolnowboasts20CIF-SSteamtitlessince2009.

OurMiddleSchoolTrailblazersalsofoundsuccessthisspring.TheTrackandFieldTeamsetnewrecordsin theBoys800m,longjump,highjump,andshotput,andtheGirls400mand800m.

TheBaseballandLacrosseTeamsalsoadvancedtodivisionplayoffs.

Ouryoungeststudent-athletesmadetheirmark,with72%of4th-6thGradestudents participatingincompetitivesportsthisseason.The6thGradeGirlsVolleyballandBoysSoccerTeams bothadvancedtoplayoffs.

InMay,thecastandcrewputonastellarweekendrunattheElPortalTheaterin NorthHollywoodfilledwithcatchytunesandwittydialogue.Thiscross-division productionenablesyoungTrailblazerstohonetheiractingskillsinleadroles,develop personalcreativity,andsharetheirloveforthetheater.

NewYork-basedartistLubaLukovajoined UpperCampusCommunityTimeviaZoom todiscusshercriticallyacclaimedportfolio, Social Justice.ToculminateArtsWeek,the SierraCanyoncommunitycelebratedour aspiringfilmmakers,animators,andactors atthe13thannualSCFilmFestival.

Field of Dreams

TheSierraCanyonLowerCampusfieldtransformed intoastate-of-the-artspaceforthewhole communitytoshare.Ournewlyrenovatedturffield wastheperfectbackdropforourGreatFairandwill bethehometomanyotherschool-wideevents, athleticcompetitions,PEclasses,andmuchmore. Welookforwardtocelebratingthisnewspaceatthe grandopeninginthefall.
