Lower Campus Multipurpose Center Update

SierraCanyonisexcitedtoannouncethattheLowerCampusMultipurposeCenterwillopen earlythisfall.Althoughwehopedtospendouropeningdaysinthisnewspace,construction delayshavepushedusbackslightly,anditisnowonpacetobecompletedinearlyOctober.To callthisnewbuildingagymnasiumwouldbeadisservice.Thebeautyisinthedetails,andevery elementevokesthespiritofSierraCanyonandthelevelofexcellencethatwewanttoprovide foryouandyourchildren.InOctober,wewillhostaformalribbon-cuttingceremony,andwe hopeyouallwilljoinustoseefirsthandthisincrediblespacethatwillenhanceourstudents' academic,artistic,andathleticexperience.

Thefocusinthe9thGradeistoencourage studentstodivedeeplyintotheiracademic studiesandco-curricularinterestsat SierraCanyon.Studentswillparticipateina practicePSATexam,andparentsareinvited toaCollegeCounselingCoffee.

Duringthe10thGrade,studentsare introducedtoacademicadvisingandcourse selectionassistance,learntheimportanceof self-assessmentsbeforebeginningthe collegesearch,andhavecontinuedexposure tostandardizedtesting.Parentsareinvited totheSophomoreFamilyCollegeMeeting.

11th Grade 12th Grade

The11thGradefocusesongettingtoknow thedifferentcollegesthroughthe90+college repvisitstoSierraCanyon,localcollegefairs, andtheCollegeToursofferedbytheSchool. Acollegelistissuggestedbasedonstudents' andfamilies'preferences.CollegeCounselors alsoprovideresourcesonthefinancialaid processandtestpreparation.Studentsand parentsbeginlearningaboutthecollege applicationprocessandrequirements throughtheCASEStudiesprogram,ledby real-lifeCollegeAdmissionDeans.

The12thGradeyearisthecapstoneproject ofthecollegeadmissionprocess.TheCollege CounselingTeamprovidescomprehensive collegeapplicationassistancefromstartto finishwithindividualstudentandfamily meetings.Familieswillreceivefurther informationaboutscholarshipopportunities andthefinancialaidprocess.Thestudent willbeguidedtocreateabalancedcollege listandstrategizeontheirbestapplication processplan.
