Please refer to our website after February 1, 2015 for the 2015–16 cost of attendance. Santa Clara University will bill you for direct costs, which will include tuition and housing charges. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g: 34 CFR Part 99) is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. This law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education. FERPA gives parents certain rights with respect to their children’s educational record. These rights transfer to the student when s/he reaches the age of 18 or attends a school beyond the high school level. The Financial Aid Office is limited in what student information can be released to parents of all eligible students. The Financial Aid Office may not release a student’s award status, award amount, and disbursement information of student funds without consent from the student. What Is
Financial Aid?
Financial aid is assistance to help finance your college education. This assistance is awarded to allow you to attend the school of your choice and to make it possible for you to complete your program of study. Financial aid may be awarded as scholarships, grants, student employment, or loans.
Students receiving financial aid must maintain satisfactory academic progress in order to remain eligible for aid consideration. All students who receive financial aid are expected to complete a minimum number of credit hours and maintain a minimum grade point average each quarter
Financial aid is intended to supplement, not replace,
as a demonstration that they are making satisfactory

academic progress. For additional information on SCU’s
Financial aid programs are sponsored by the following:
Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements, please visit
• the federal government • the state • private organizations • Santa Clara University
Eligibility The federal government sets certain requirements the student must meet to receive federal funds. Students must meet all of following criteria: • be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen • have a valid Social Security Number • be enrolled in an eligible degree or certificate program • be registered for Selective Service, if required • not owe a refund on a federal grant or be in default on a federal education loan
Drug Regulations The Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 (DRA) suspends federal aid eligibility for students convicted under federal or state law of sale or possession of drugs while they are enrolled in a postsecondary institution and are receiving federal aid.

How Is
Financial Aid Determined?
We carefully evaluate the information you and your parent(s) provide on the financial aid applications (CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE® and the FAFSA: Free Application for Federal Student Aid). To determine your financial aid eligibility we use a process referred to as the needs analysis formula, as legislated by Congress. The needs analysis formula is in place to ensure that students are treated in a consistent manner.
What if My Parent(s) Refuse to Contribute to My Education? Santa Clara University expects your parent(s) to provide financial support, according to their ability to do so, throughout your undergraduate years. Should a parent voluntarily discontinue support, University-funded assistance cannot be made available to replace parental contribution. It may be possible for you to borrow to meet the expected parental contribution. We suggest that you discuss this
