AUGUST 2019 From The Pro Shop
The Dog Days of Summer August has always taken a bad rap as the “dog days of summer”. The long, hot, and dusty days near the end of the summer months signal an end to summer and the promise of cool temps come the Fall months. For golfers at The Views the “dog days of summer” mean dodging the monsoon and remembering to stay extra hydrated, all while trying to improve our games. The “dog” days give us extra daylight and only the occasional downpour. So, put them to work and get out there on our beautiful course. This month’s Divots is devoted to golf safety and etiquette along with the usual results, coming events and tip from the Pro sections. A new monthly section of Divots will be Pet Peeves; the things that get under our skin on the golf course. Enjoy your August Divots!
August 31 with a 7:30 Shotgun start. We expect a full field for this event. This is for a great cause and there is still time to sign up. Check with the Pro Shop for further details. There will also be an open play shotgun at 1:00 pm for those not playing in the American Legion event. The Summer Series of Play with the Pro’s Finals will be held on September 3rd. This popular event is sold out and we look forward to the finals and then scheduling the Fall Series. Don’t miss out! Looking towards October the 2nd Annual Run The Views 5K takes place on Saturday October 12 @ 8am sharp. Come out and walk or run the course with your friends and neighbors. Prizes and refreshments are included in the $20 registration fee. More details will become available in the coming weeks. Overseed Schedule The golf course will be closed September 23 – October 13. The range will be open mats only beginning September 25. The Pro shop will be open on a limited basis through the overseed.

The Views Golf Club hosted the Tucson El Conquistadors Adult/Pro Junior on July 20 benefitting Ricki Rarick Junior Golf Program and The First Tee of Tucson. Results were as follows:
On July 8th David M Johnson recorded a hole in one on Hole # 17 from 126 yards using an 8 iron. Nice shot David! If you have made a hole in one, or an eagle or any other amazing shot, we would like to know about it. Please let us know in the Pro Shop.

Cart Safety If you haven’t noticed the traffic around the Pro Shop has intensified lately. With the end of summer nearing and the return of our winter friends adding to the congestion it’s time to review some safety issues. Speed bumps have been placed in areas where blind spots exist. Please use them. Watch your speed in the parking areas. Be alert! Safety first! The Etiquette Corner New this month in Divots is the Etiquette Corner. We will discuss proper etiquette on and around the golf course. This month, speaking of divots, are you fixing your divots and fixing your ball marks. If you are that’s good etiquette. You are making the golf course better for everyone by fixing divots and replacing your ball marks. Thank you! Pet Peeves Also, this month Divots debuts Pet Peeves. Those things that bother you on the golf course. If you would like to contribute, feel free to drop off your Pet Peeve to Tom at the Pro Shop. I’ll go first this month; my Pet Peeve is called the two wheeler. Why is it that when parking a cart near the tee box or green there are 2 wheels on the cart path and 2 wheels on the grass or dirt? Nothing looks better than a nicely edged tee box or green complex. Let’s do our part and keep two hands on the wheel and four wheels on the path, and that’s my pet peeve! A Tip from the Pro Have you ever had or seen someone with paralysis by analysis? When you remain frozen over the golf ball with a million swing thoughts running through your mind an endless check list of do’s and don’ts. The best way to combat this phenomenon is to take a deep breath and focus on one swing thought only and just focus on contact. Try clearing your mind by focusing on your breathing. Then get up and hit it! Good luck!
