The Oro Valley Senior Championship The Views Golf Club at Oro Valley hosted the 2019 Oro Valley Senior Championships January 12-13. A field of 48 players participated in 3 different flights. Winter Weather Does it seem like we have had an unusually cold and wet winter this year? While we have had only a few frost delays, it’s important to review details regarding the cold weather. The frost line is 520-825-0322. This line is updated no later than 6:30 am. Tee times that have been affected by frost delays may be adjusted as we catch up times caused by cancellations. Please check our website (theviewsgolfclub.com) for up-dated tee times. To keep you warm throughout the winter months, check out the new Views women’s and men’s winter knit hats. We also just received men’s and women’s fleece jackets and pull overs. Pass holders will receive 25% off these jackets and pullovers. Stay warm and make a fashion statement all at the same time. Course Maintenance With the increase in rounds here at The Views comes the increase in ball marks and divots. Let’s all do our part by obeying the gate system and by fixing our ball marks (and one other) and filling our divots. If we all do this, we will continue to have the excellent conditions we have become accustomed to at The Views. January Results Congratulations go out to Steve Aggers for his hole in one on the Par 3 3rd hole on January 7. Steve used a 6 iron from 150 yards. Great shot Steve.

The Championship Flight (gross only) winner was Jon Lindstrom from Lakewood, CO. Jon shot 5 under par 139 for a convincing 8-shot victory over The Views’ own Tom Beach. In the White/Gold Division Robin McCool from Center Valley, PA, bested a field of 23 to take low gross honors with a 36-hole total of 2 under 142. Hans Birkholz from Scottsdale, AZ, won low net honors with a score of 10 under 134. The Views Bill Cocanour finished 1 stroke back to claim 2nd place honors. In the Gold Division, Steve Stuebner from the Gallery Golf Club won the Gross Division with a score of 19 over par 163. The net Division finished with a tie at 1 under par 143 between Andy Callahan from Lakewood, CO, and the Views’ own John Crittenden. Thank you to all who participated, and we hope to see you back again in 2020. Play with the Pros Finals On January 15, the Play with the Pro’s Winter Finals took place. Teams advancing to the finals were Rick’s team with Preston Sheriff, Denny Garren and Kevin Devaney; Tim’s team with Bill Cocanour, Kurt Klucking and John Rowe; Joe’s team with Art Scarla, Bob Howe, and Vince Cardinal; and Tom’s team w/ Doug Kimble, Sherry Linker and Richard Flax. Golf Fair & Helicopter Drop The most exciting event in January took place on the January 19 at our Annual Golf Fair & Helicopter Ball Drop. The driving range was overflowing with guests eager to see which of the 630 golf balls purchased would be the lucky winners. The 3 ball-drop winners were in 3rd place George Lindsay $400; 2nd place Warren Witler $750: and first place, whose ball was holed out from the helicopter for a hole in one was Helen Bruning taking home the grand prize of $1200. We had a beautiful day for this event, and everyone was a winner as all Women's & Men’s associations raised over $2000 combined for their respective associations. The Women’s 18-hole association was the top group with a total of $585 raised! Wait until next year! Upcoming Events On Monday, February 4, The Views Golf Club welcomes The Southern Arizona Seniors. The group of 40 players will shotgun start at 8:30 AM on holes 6 – 12. On Sunday, February 10, the Southern Arizona Men’s Club will shotgun start at 8:30 AM on holes 7-14. The Valentine’s Couple Event will take place on Sunday, February 10. Couples pay a $10 event-only fee (regular golf fees apply). Make a starting time anytime during the day for either the 9 hole or 18-hole event. Choose your own time and group. 100% of the entry fees go to the prize fund. You must have a scorecard signed and verified. Format is one better ball NET of couple. And remember

couples, “Love is never having to say I’m sorry.” On Tuesday, February 19, the Views Golf Club is proud to host The Change the Course of Cancer 4-person Scramble. Information and signup sheets are available in the Pro Shop for this worthy cause. Looking forward to March, we will be hosting our next Demo Day on March 8, vendors to be determined. On March 20, the ever-popular YAPPY HOUR returns to the Views Driving Range. A Word from the Pro The word for this month is FITNESS. Adhering to a consistent fitness program will reap benefits for you on the golf course. Injury prevention and greater stamina are two of those benefits. It’s also important to train our minds with positive self-talk instead of berating ourselves for poor performance. A positive outlook and positive reinforcement will go a long way towards more consistent play and more FUN on the course. Get fit and stay fit!
