Feb 15 divots

Divots February 1, 2015 From the Pro Kim Griggs, PGA Golf Cart Rules and Regulations Please remember that during the hours of play, players MUST arrive and depart the driveway from Rancho Vistoso Blvd. Cutting through is strictly prohibited. This is not only very dangerous; it is distracting to players on the golf course. Tee Times Please try and provide the pro shop with the most accurate list of names for tee times (in advance). This will help us to provide everyone with the

excellent customer service that you deserve in a timely manner. Also, please be aware that our golf course is very busy this time of year and that everyone must comply with the pace of play policy. This is completing nine holes in 2 hours and 10 minutes or less, 18 holes in 4 hours and 20 minutes or less, but at the very least maintaining your position with respect to the group in front of you. Golf Tip from the Pro: Greenside Bunker Play: Make a splash!! Learn how to throw the sand onto the green. Because the clubface doesn’t contact the ball (the ball rides out on a cushion of sand), the key to success is to splash, or displace, sand. To get comfortable with this sensation, get in the bunker (no ball) and swing away. Splash the sand as far out of the bunker as you can. Feel the club being grabbed by

the sand and keep the club moving to a full finish. You can have the biggest backswing

in the world, but if you don’t follow through, the ball isn’t going anywhere… except back at your feet Pass Holder Event for February During the month of February, pass holders will receive a 15% discount on all golf ball purchases. We have Titleist, Srixon, Pinnacle and Bridgestone balls to choose from. Come on in and take advantage of this great offer!!

From the Assistant Rick Sample, PGA I have recently heard some question with regards to what a player may and may not do in a bunker prior to hitting a shot. I would like to clear this up for everyone. To summarize: you may rake footprints in the bunker prior to hitting your ball, provided it is done for the sole purpose of caring for the course. Nothing should be done that constitutes testing the condition of the hazard nor should anything be done that improves the lie of the ball or the area of intended stance. In other words you can

rake the sand on the opposite of the hole from your ball as long as it can’t be deemed that you are trying to gather information to assist with your shot. This is a fine line and I would not recommend doing much raking prior to hitting your ball out of a bunker. If you have made a deep impression with your foot in the sand, it could easily be thought that the act of raking that area would give you valuable information as to the depth and compactness of the sand. Another very interesting recent change in the definitions came in the addressing of your ball. Addressing the ball is now defined by when a player has grounded the club immediately in front of or immediately behind the ball and taking your stance is no longer part of addressing the ball. Remember everyone; it is a flagstick not a pin. Also it is a golf car, not a golf cart. Cars are motorized and carts are drawn by an animal of some sort. Hope this clarifies things but if not stop in the golf shop and I would be glad to discuss it with you.
