Divots Nov. 1, 2014 From the Pro Kim Griggs, PGA

November is the true beginning of our season. It is has been great seeing all the snow birds coming back!! The golf course is starting to fill up again and that is nice to see. With that in mind, please be aware of your pace of play. If you are slower group, please do not hesitate to let others play through. Remember our rangers are only doing their job out on the golf course, please be courteous and listen to their instruction. Fairway Repair

The Pro Shop & Driving Range will close on Thanksgiving at 2:00 PM so that our staff can enjoy Thanksgiving with their families. Enjoy your Thanksgiving Dinner in the CafĂŠ, or enjoy it with your family!! Shoulder Rates

Beginning Nov 1st we will be offering our residents and their guests a lower rate to play golf. 18 holes will be $45.00 and 9 holes will be $30.00 if you own your own golf car. If you use one of our golf cars, please add $5.00 per seat. Bunker Etiquette

The question of where to put the rake (in the bunker or out) has always been an issue. The PGA recommends that you leave the handle of the rake outside the bunker and the rake part inside the bunker. This will make it easier for the next person to use

the rake. Also, PLEASE enter every bunker from the lowest side (not the steep side). After hitting your sand shot, PLEASE rake and smooth all foot prints and uneven areas for the next person. No one likes to hit out of a foot print or indentation. If we ALL follow these simple rules, I would appreciate it. Golf Course

Mike Kropf has purchased some new cart signs to direct you to the cart path. Please do not drive around the side of the greens, but instead get on the cart path. For example on # 4: DO NOT drive on the left side by the green, and on # 5 do not drive on the right side of the green and behind the green to get to the cart path.- these are just examples of 2 holes that I can think of. There will be ONLY 1 EXCEPTION: On hole # 16, we will allow carts to drive on the left side by the green and around behind the green, due to the steepness of that hill. Checking In

When checking in for golf, we ask that the annual pass holders please go to the first computer by the front door of the pro shop. All others who need to pay a fee will check in on the far side as this is our only cash register (Point of Sale). In doing so, this will speed up the check in process for everyone. Also, it is VERY important that we receive the correct names of the people playing in each group as soon as possible. Making Tee Times

Please remember that when you are checking in for a shotgun that it is very busy, we will ask you to fill out a form for a tee time request and leave it on the pro shop counter. After we send out the shotgun, we will be more than happy to take care of your request. Thank you for your patience and understanding. From the Assistant Rick Sample PGA

First of all I would like to welcome back all those that spend their summers elsewhere.

It is very nice to see all of you again. I hope everyone had a great summer and we are looking forward to a great season. As most of you already know we have recently changed the range ball dispensing machine. Some that have gotten the cards have had some difficulties using them. So, I wanted to go over the new procedures for you. On the machine front you will find 4 silver buttons right above the number key pad. The first order of business is to press one of the silver buttons. It doesn’t matter which one as they are all programmed the same. The screen on the machine will show a selection number depending on which button is depressed. It doesn’t matter. Then the screen will switch to showing “small $5”. When you see that on the screen it’s time to insert the card in the reader slot. This is the critical point where the problems are happening. There is a number sequence on the back of the card. That number sequence is in the magnetic strip. If the card is not fully inserted until the card

hits the back of the reader then the reader only picks up part of the number sequence. This makes a difference as the machine has a transmitter which transmits the number sequence to our computer in the golf shop. The number transmitted is compared to the numbers stored in the software in the computer. If it can’t find a match then the machine will display “link timeout” This means the software could not find a number match to verify the validity of the card being used. Bottom line is, make sure you insert your card all the way into the reader until it stops at the back. Then pull it out of the reader. This does not have to be done really fast. I hope this helps.
