Association News From The Board of Directors Our mission as the SCOV Board is to lead in maintaining and enhancing the quality of life in Sun City Oro Valley as an active adult community. All Board minutes, agendas and reports are available online and in the SCOV Library. Board meetings are open to residents.

Share a Ride by Lou Gard The SCOV Association has on average two large sponsored events each month. Clubs and committees also have separate events. The Association, club and committee events combined could generate up to 40 events per year. At these events, somewhere between 250 and 450 people could be attending, depending on the setup needed in the Activity Center. The attendance number allowed depends upon the rooms, seating arrangements, audio/visual requirements, additional tables needed for serving, etc. Safety at all events is the first priority at SCOV; there must be adequate egress in case of an emergency. When these events are held during the day, especially in the winter months, it puts stress on the parking capacity, particularily if the Artisan Center, AFC and tennis courts are in full use. In front of the Activity Center and AFC there are 147 parking spaces including the 12 handicapped spots in front of the Activity Center and three in front of the AFC; in front of the Tennis courts there are 51 parking spaces. There are 21 golf cart parking spots in front of the AFC. At the SCOV Government Affairs Committee Forum on August 4 for the Oro Valley Mayoral and Town Council candidates there were over 300 people in attendance. The lot in front of the Activity Center/AFC was full, and the lot near the tennis courts was almost full. You can see, when there are large numbers of people attending an event there may be a shortage of parking spaces. There have been many occasions where people had to park in front of the Welcome Center, where there are 33 parking spaces, or on Silverton Avenue when attending an event at the Activity Center.

Talk to your friends and neighbors to find out if they are going to an upcoming event, and if so, why not ride together? One less parking space is taken. If just 50 people share a ride with others, more parking spaces will be available and fewer people have to walk long distances. Obviously the more people that share a ride, the less congested the parking lots will be.

Thanks for Support and Water First and foremost I want to thank all of you who have supported The Views Restaurant over the summer. The restaurant is back open, and I want to thank all of you who have come back to check us out. Your support has been wonderful, and the management and staff are hopeful you will enjoy the new service attitude of the staff as well as the excellent food. I love to see the water of the monsoons. It impacts not only the scenery of the desert but also the bottom line for Association expenses. Water on the desert is expensive and although the Views Golf Course utilizes gray water, it still comes with a steep pricetag. This year the heat has been above average which requires more water to be used on the golf course. Each time it rains, depending on the amount of rain, we are able to not water the golf course for a day or more. The water savings can be significant. Michael Kropf, Golf Course Superintendent, watches our water usage very closely. He is a master at using just the right amount of water as you can see by the beauty of our course. It is a good thing he knows what he’s doing and is so conservative with water, because the Tucson Water authority just voted to increase the cost of gray water by 6.5% each year for two years. Hopefully the next two years will not be drought years, and we’ll have plenty of monsoon moisture.

It’s More Than Living... It’s A Lifestyle! Women's Auxiliary Supports Local Nonprofit By Kathy Hrdy It’s paradoxical that the idea of living a long life appeals to everyone, but the idea of getting old doesn’t appeal to anyone. Andy Rooney

hoosing an active adult community takes a lot of thought. Where will I live and what does that community have to offer? Many recall the things they passed on over the years. “When I’m retired I’m going to paint and learn about astronomy; I’m going to swim every day; I’m going to sit on a beautiful patio and read all day; I’m going to give back and still enjoy retirement.” The combination of work and family creates a fast-paced life where volunteering to the community is difficult. Here in SCOV there are numerous ways to give back as you'll see reading through club activities in the Tipster. The SCOV Women’s Auxiliary supports Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse. In 2008, two local domestic abuse organizations, Tucson Center for Women and Children and Brewster Center, came together to form Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse. The Sun City Women’s Auxiliary was formed to help support that new organization. Emerge! helps victims of domestic abuse throughout Tucson and the surrounding areas. They provide the following services annually: • Shelter to an average of 500 people in crisis • Transitional and permanent housing support to over 150 families • Case management assistance and crisis intervention counseling to over 2,000 people • Lay legal services to over 1,000 people • Life skills education to over 1,000 • Safety planning support to over 3,000 • Peer support groups for over 600 people • Transportation to critical services to over 250 people Their crisis hotline supports 5,594 calls annually and helps over 5,800 people both through their shelter and those who needed support beyond shelter. Emerge! helps to educate the community by providing presentations on domestic abuse as well as counseling to child survivors on handling conflict, trauma and abuse. Emerge! depends on donors and partners to provide these services to our community. Recently, law enforcement across Pima County introduced a new screening tool to help identify and predict victims of domestic abuse. Studies have shown a high percentage of domestically abused people who are killed never received the help they so desperately needed. This new screening will identify more domestic abuse victims and will double the need for Emerge!'s programs. The need for financial and volunteer help is great. The SCOV Women’s Auxiliary conducts two or three fundraisers a year. Each year there is a spring luncheon featuring a raffle, silent auction and fashion show. The upcoming fall

Models from "Hats Off to Emerge!" fashion show luncheon Saturday, November 3, highlights an accessories boutique where many ladies do their Christmas shopping. The event is very popular with residents, local friends and family. Their goal is to keep costs low by using volunteer time and donated services wherever possible. This approach allows the Auxiliary to donate the most to Emerge!. Also, many men from SCOV, as well as husbands of members, help at the events. In December Emerge! holds their Holiday House. Auxiliary members and other local groups and businesses donate new clothes, toys and household items to the Holiday House. This event is a favorite of Auxiliary members. They volunteer to help moms shop for gifts for their children. Children also get a chance to shop for mom. After shopping, all gifts are wrapped and Christmas-morning ready. Winnie Doerfer, an Auxiliary member said, “I loved to see the excitement on a mom’s face when she finds the gift her son or daughter wanted. Now it will be found under their Christmas tree."

Women's Auxiliary members SCOV Women’s Auxiliary encourages residents and their friends to join them in this worthy cause. Members work hard, but the results are worth it, and new members will feel that way as well. Meetings are held at the Welcome Center Room WC3 on the second Tuesday at 9 AM from September through April. Aging seems to be the only available way to live a long life. Kitty O’Neill Collins

Board of Directors Ballot Proposal – Single Vendor for Waste and Recycling Ballots were sent out in mid-August seeking community input on two proposals. The first proposal on the ballot is an addition to the Bylaws that would enable the Board to contract with a single vendor for trash removal and recycling services to all residential lots in SCOV, with cost included in the annual homeowners fee. Whether the Board acts on this proposal, if it is approved, will depend on the extent of community support for this proposal. Strong support was indicated in the straw poll last spring, but the Board is seeking wider community input through this current ballot. This proposed action represents a significant change for our community, and it is likely that the Board would proceed only if the proposal is passed with strong community support. Your vote is important, so please consider this matter carefully and then submit your ballot. The information provided below is intended to aid you in that decision. 1. All lots will pay, through annual dues, for year-round trash removal and recycling service, one pickup per week. 2. Based on the price in a current proposal from a contractor, the estimated monthly cost would be $10.85, less than most homeowners are paying now and a uniform rate for all homeowners. Homeowners would no longer pay the contractor directly for these services. The annual fee for 2019-2020 (billed in June 2019) would increase by approximately $130 (based on the current proposal) to cover this cost, and the contractor would be paid by the Association. 3. Trash removal and recycling service for SCOV facilities (e.g., restaurant, Welcome Center, AFC) would utilize this same contractor, with annual savings of approximately $7,000 for the Association. 4. Homeowners will have the option of using various sized containers for trash or recycling service. 5. If trash occasionally exceeds capacity of the container, extra bags will be picked up as a courtesy, i.e., at no charge. 6. The cost of the contracted service would be paid by all homeowners as part of the annual homeowner fee. However, homeowners retain the option to hire, at their own additional expense, an alternative contractor for trash removal and recycling services. Perceived benefits 1. Significant reduction in truck traffic. Currently three contractors service SCOV: 6 trucks, 3 for trash, 3 for recycling each service day with attendant noise and disruption. Many complaints about excessive truck traffic initially led to development of this proposal. 2. Uniform low rate for all homeowners; no need to negotiate your rate with the contractor which has been demonstrated to result in wide variation in rates that homeowners are actually charged. 3. No need to start and stop service when you are away. If the container is out, it is picked up. No restart fees or similar charges for starting or stopping service. Perceived negatives 1. The major argument advanced against this proposal has been that when the costs are included in the dues, seasonal residents would be paying for services that they do not utilize when they are not in SCOV. This is certainly true, but it is already true for many other services, such as maintenance of the AFC, craft shops, or golf course which may be used only part of the year or not at all by some residents. Despite a modest increase in costs, many seasonal residents have voiced

their support for this proposal, recognizing the benefits to the general SCOV community. 2. A small percentage of SCOV residents have two trash pickups each week. Based on preliminary proposals received by SCOV management, it seems likely that Waste Management or Republic would be the contractor selected if we proceed with the one contractor proposal. Waste Management currently serves as the sole contractor for once-weekly waste pickup in SaddleBrooke, and Republic serves as the sole contractor for once-weekly waste pickup in The Highlands. Neither of these companies allows for a second weekly pickup as an option. They do contract for two weekly pickups at all lots, but this is not under consideration as it is much more expensive, and the great majority of SCOV residents find one weekly pickup adequate. Those wishing a second weekly pickup would have to arrange for this with an alternative contractor and at their own expense. General Manager - Robin Coulter rcoulter@suncityorovalley.com 520-917-8070 Alerts and Wellness Checks An alert was recently issued to the community through the new digital bulletin boards, wall-mounted bulletin boards and "This Week in SCOV" (TWISCOV) to watch out for a man known to have committed fraud against seniors. The alert, in this instance, included contacting the General Manager or Assistant General Manager who took appropriate action from the two reports that had been received. This is the first time we’ve used the digital bulletin boards in this manner and feel it’s been informative. If you are concerned about a friend or neighbor in SCOV, please do not hesitate to contact the police or our offices to have a wellness check conducted. Often neighbors recognize that papers and mail are not being picked up when they know the individual should be home. This prompts them to call the Administration Office which will contact the police. In the event of an emergency (police, water running out of your garage, etc.), the Emergency Contact information that residents have placed on file in our office may be used to reach you or your designee. If you have not updated your Emergency Contact information lately, go to Members > Member Services > Safety > Safety & Crime Prevention and click on the Emergency Contact form.

Our thoughts turn to getting ready for the holidays, and perhaps some holiday guests will be visiting you. We have a great fall lineup of events, and I know that our visitors are always amazed at how there is so much to do here in SCOV and the surrounding area. Community Services - Katy Mosier Office Hours Mon.-Fri., 9-11 AM, Welcome Center kmosier@suncityorovalley.com 520-917-8058 Consideration for Neighbors With the return of those who have spent their summer in another state, we historically experience an uptick in home remodeling projects. Our community stays fresh and alive because of the constant upgrading of our homes. Values continue to climb, in part, because of the investment in kitchen and bath remodels, landscape upgrades and exterior enhancements. But with all this renovation activity comes an increase in contractor and delivery truck traffic and parking, improperly stored building materials and discarded debris. The annoyance of blocked driveways, loud music, tossed soda cans and cigarette butts can build into major exasperation. If you are contemplating any remodeling work for your home, please impress upon your contractor the need for nightly clean-up, proper storage of building materials out of front yard sight and general courtesy to neighbors. The nuisance factor is amplified by lengthy timelines that stretch into months. Timely completion of projects is one of the biggest concerns that should probably be negotiated with a prospective contractor.

Reading is like exercise for the brain and can delay the onset of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Studies show that heart rate and muscle tension go down within six minutes when one is reading, making it good for reducing stress and improving sleep. Google “benefits of reading for seniors” to find out more and stop by the library for at least 3.5 hours’ worth of reading material for this week.

Recreation and Fitness - Lonnie Davis ldavis@suncityorovalley.com 520-917-8073 Significance of Good Posture Good posture places you in an alignment where stress is properly distributed to the intended muscles and ligaments. As a result, the muscles are allowed to work efficiently and as intended which, in turn, decreases wear and tear that your joints undergo. This decreases your risk of joint discomfort and degenerative arthritis. Stress placed on the ligaments holding the joints in your spine together is also decreased with good posture. When your muscles, joints and ligaments are working as intended, your vital organs are able to remain in proper position, and the nervous system is able to function normally. For correct standing posture, your ears, shoulders, hips and ankles should all be in a vertical line. Set your feet to hip-width apart with toes pointed forward. Your knees should be straight but not locked. The spine should be erect with the shoulders pulled back and then down. Often raising your chin up will help fix standing postural issues. The basics of maintaining good health as we grow older are the following: diet, having good relationships with others, enriching our minds with new activities and exercise. The Active Health Committee (AHC) seeks to encourage these basics by offering lectures on all of the above and has also been the initiator of the Balance Class. Lectures are held once a month, and feature experts on aging well, including all the basics mentioned above. The Balance Class continues on Mondays, see Workshops and Classes, page 13. Please watch for flyers for these activities. The AHC is always looking for new members and meets once a month in the Welcome Center at 1:30 PM. The Activity Center Renovation Committee (ACRC) is completing the first phase of investigating what will be required for the remodeled Activity Center. Members of the ACRC have met with the SCOV staff and club members to better understand how events and meetings are scheduled and the room capacity limitations. We will use this information to help determine if we have to reallocate space within the Activity Center. We will soon start interviewing staff and residents to help determine what features and amenities need to be changed to make the AC functionally compatible with our current and future needs. ACRC members will also be visiting other HOAs to see how we compare and what changes have to be made to maintain our competitive advantage for the foreseeable future. The Community Services Coordinator (CSC) is the SCOV staff contact for all ARC matters. The CSC office is open 9-11 AM, MondayFriday, to accept ARC submittals and to answer homeowner questions on proposed projects. To be listed in the directory, you must complete the online form “To change your directory listing…” or fill out an orange card at the Welcome Center. You can choose to be listed and still have address, phones, or emails unlisted in either the paper book or the online directory. Email addresses are not published in the paper book. I send an updated phone list to the Posse each month. You can choose to be completely unlisted in the directory but still choose to provide your phone number for just the Posse.

Election Special SCOV Vote Ballots went out Tuesday, August 14; voting cutoff is Thursday, September 13, Noon. Results will be announced Monday, September 17. • Proposed Action #1: Single Waste/Recycling Vendor for Residential Lots A vote for the proposed action item #1 would result in a single vendor as the provider of regular trash removal and recycling services to all residential lots with costs to be included in the annual homeowner fee. Services outside the scope of the SCOV contract may be contracted for by the homeowner at the homeowner's expense. A vote against the proposed action item #1 would mean no change in how trash collection is currently conducted in SCOV. • Proposed Action #2: Prohibit Garage or Yard Sales in Residential Lots In March 2010, there was a vote to rewrite this section as laws concerning work conducted in a home had changed. The garage and yard sale prohibition was in the same sentence with home business allowances. The garage and yard sale prohibition was inadvertently dropped when the new language was written and approved by the membership. A vote for proposed action item #2 would result in adding the rule back in to the Master Declaration to prohibit garage and yard sales on residential lots. A vote against proposed action item #2 would result in the rule existing only in policy, which can be changed by any Board.

Here are some highlights: new menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner, happy hours, bar and all-day Sunday, all of which will be seasonally updated. Menus can be seen online at our SCOV website. Some hours have been modified, including a later 8 PM closing. Happy hours and prices are consistent: 3-6 PM, seven days a week. Staffing hours were added to ensure prompt customer service. These are things you asked for in the surveys and forums. Some residents have complained that the price of a glass of beer has gone up 50 cents with the new menu. A comparative analysis of customer prices in the area shows we still are the best value for domestic, import and local beers, as well as having the lowest happy hour prices, and you don’t have to drive out of SCOV to enjoy it.

As a teenager, Bev Fairful made her own prom dresses, then designed the dresses for her wedding, ultimately sewing clothing for her four children. She also learned to knit and crochet, making adorable sweaters and blankets. She also makes doll clothes for every occasion and offers colorful dichroic glass earrings and necklaces. Our newest consignor, Susan Herzog, has a lifelong fascination with jewelry and a love of color. After taking classes in jewelry making, she is pursuing her passion for creating necklaces, earrings and bracelets. She begins with a center piece and builds around it adding silver accents to many varieties of stones, bone and pearls and finishing with silver, gold or stainless steel findings. This summer has been busy for our committee. Our golf course architect, Mike Gogel, is working on designs to add sub-surface (18-20 inches) rock and sand layers to our greens to enhance drainage and root growth. He is also looking at ways to create more spots to put pin placements on the greens that meet golf design standards. It is interesting to note that some of our greens currently have less than 20% available spots using these standards. The architect’s work should be completed in the fourth quarter of this year. At that time, we will have a reliable estimate and design to improve the greens. The Board of Directors has requested that we share information with the community to keep this project as visible as possible. This will occur as we go forward. In addition, estimated monies for green improvements have been allocated in 2020 asset reserves to ensure that there will be no assessment from the community. Our community has a successful history of maintaining

and improving its assets. Our Board does a great job to allocate annual monies to these improvements. Restaurant, fitness center, pickleball courts, bocce ball and outside activity buildings are a few examples, and the list highlights why our community is considered one of the best in the area. Our golf course has also seen improvements to irrigation systems, cart paths, bunkers, etc. Improvements to the greens are another step as we look to ensure our community assets are attractive and available to current and future residents.

Please make every effort to stay ahead of the weed situation in your yard, especially desert broom and spurge. Spurge is the low-growing, fast spreading little weed that seems to take over an entire block in just days. Spurge must be sprayed and not pulled in order to get rid of it. For every one that is pulled, two more grow when their tiny seeds drop off the tap root. Look at the cracks in your sidewalk, driveway and where the cement meets the asphalt. That is where spurge is often found. With the rains, new growth on trees occurred. Trees must be kept trimmed up more than seven feet above sidewalks to not encroach upon walkers or block visibility of stop signs at corners. Most bean pods are down now and should be removed from your yards. Special thanks goes to all who worked hard keeping their yards in good shape, especially in the summer months. In April of this year, this committee proposed changes to the Development Standards which were ultimately approved by the Board of Directors. These changes did not require a vote of the owners and are now incorporated into the Development Standards. Neighbors will now be notified of any planned permanent improvements within 100 feet of their property so that there will be no surprises. The committee also continues to work toward proposed changes to the Master Declaration (CC&Rs) which are intended to preserve views and maintain the current beauty of our community. The proposed changes must first be approved by the Board of Directors and then will require a vote of the owners. This vote is planned for 2019. Between now and the vote there will be many informational meetings and publications to help everyone understand the impacts of the changes. Residents are always welcome to attend committee meetings. The Chalk Creek Wash is the largest wash in our community. In the past, heavy storms caused damage to the wash and golf course in addition to threatening homes. As a result, a program was established to maintain the wash and minimize the threat from heavy storms. A key element to the ongoing maintenance of the wash is a series of inspections to determine the condition of the creek and identify potential threats to surrounding properties. The Properties Committee, together with HOA staff and experienced experts in these matters, participate in the inspections. The Properties Committee works on a variety of tasks like this during the year. Our next meeting will be on Thursday, September 20.

Director of Golf - Rick Price rprice@theviewsgolfclub.com 520-917-8086 The golf course is in perfect condition tee to green, and the greens are as good as they can be, based on their soil condition. Thank you to our golf course superintendent, Mike Kropf, and his team for doing an outstanding job providing excellent golf conditions. We are heading into our overseeding schedule this month. On Monday, September 17, we close until Monday, October 8, to overseed the golf course in winter Ryegrass. The reason for overseeding is that in the Southwest Bermuda grass goes dormant once evening temperatures dip below 50 degrees and when we receive our first frost. Almost overnight, the grass turns brown and looks dead. In preparation for overseeding, the maintenance staff cuts the Bermuda grass down and drops Ryegrass over the top of it, hence the name overseed. The process is very labor intensive and is a necessary investment to provide an aesthetic look for the winter months. However, once the growin is complete (7-10 days for the seed to germinate) and fairways mowed to normal heights, it’s well worth the effort. After this process occurs, and the course is open for play, we require that all golf carts stay on the cart path through Thursday, October 25. This gives the grass an opportunity to grow in completely. On Saturday, October 6, we will be conducting The Views 5K Run/Walk on the front nine cart path to raise money for The First Tee of Tucson. Also, our Greens Reconstruction Committee has been hard at work meeting on a regular basis and has had several meetings with the golf course architect, Mike Gogel, who is preparing a master plan to present to the committee on the possible reconstruction of the golf greens.

Superintendent - Michael Kropf scvgolf@suncityorovalley.com 520-917-8063 The month of September marks a turning point in the maintenance of the golf course. Starting in the spring, the focus of maintenance was growing and establishing Bermuda grass while eliminating the overseeded Ryegrass for the summer months. In September, the maintenance practices change to slowing the down the growth of Bermuda grass and starting to prepare for overseeding and the return of the winter Ryegrass. The Bermuda grass growth is slowed down with growth regulators, a reduction of fertilization and cultural practices like verticutting. This process slowly reduces the thickness of the Bermuda grass canopy to allow for better infiltration of Ryegrass seed. All of the work performed during the summer is not only to provide a great playing surface, but also to provide a good seed bed for overseeding. When the Bermuda grass is too thick, the Rye seed gets stuck too far away from the soil surface and can’t establish roots. This results in a thin overseed that doesn’t look good or play well during the winter months. This summer, we had a very good transition from Rye-

grass to Bermuda grass which resulted in only a few areas requiring repairs. Therefore, the holes that will not be overseeded this winter will be #10 and the green fairway on #5. These two areas have never been skipped during the nonoverseed rotations of holes which has resulted in these fairways having a bad poa problem. Not overseeding will allow us to eliminate these poa plants during the winter while also using a preemergent to prevent more plants in the future.

Some away games were organized by Pattie Horning for fun Fridays at The Ritz Carlton, Ventana and Tubac courses, taking advantage of good summer rates. Soon the winter residents will return to the desert to join all who have been keeping our play going over the summer. Official league play starts the first of November. We look forward to having everyone back together.

Steve Alverdes has dabbled in photography for years, but became more serious about it when he joined the Photo Club six years ago. He currently uses a Canon 6D camera and enjoys photographing different and unusual objects. Steve hopes the folks viewing his photos will stop and think about what they're seeing. His creative twist often uses black and white mode, as colors can sometimes get in the way. Steveâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s love of ghost towns took him to Bannock, Montana, where he came upon this chair in an "Chair in Corner" by Steve Alverdes old building. It caught his fancy, so he snapped several shots. The result shown here earned him Photo of the Year at the annual awards competition. Steve encourages photographers to shoot what they like. Photography is subjective, and you will get occasional negative feedback. As long as you like your own photos, you have found a hobby to enjoy.

The summer sculpture group may be diminished but the enthusiasm to create still persists. Our group is very active in our cool studio, so come on over to Catalina Vista to learn to sculpt with clay and take advantage of our resident experts, most of whom are here for the summer.

August, we learned how to embroider on straw placemats. Several of our gals also did some embroidery on aprons for Sister Jose's Women's Center. The Brother 6-needle embroidery machine in the Sewing Room had its annual checkup and is ready for more projects. Contact Karin Frohlich for instruction on its use. August found children returning to school in the summer heat and monsoon rains. It's hard to imagine these children needing flannel pajama bottoms, but that's what we continue to sew for children in the Amphi school district. Soon cooler temperatures will be coming and children need warm sleepwear. Casa Amigas continues to sew flannel sleep pants paired with a colorful t-shirt. They seem to fly out the door of the clothing bank for the school district. Sewing these pants keeps our sewers busy and happy knowing what a difference it makes for these kids. Cheer Bears

In July we started using the Kactus Kickers (KK) dedicated email address. Many of you did not receive the emails announcing the dance. The group email was sent using the “blind copy” (Bcc) option. By having the distribution list (contact list) emails all on the Bcc line, your personal information is not visible and anyone who responds to the email will be responding to the single “to” address. This also prevents our contact list being copied and used by a third party. Unfortunately, many email programs treat a Bcc address as spam or junk. We attempted to send individual emails, but Gmail also protects you by preventing someone from sending out multiple emails in a short period of time. For those of you who received and responded to the early August KK email, please disregard. If you did not and wish to be on the mailing list for upcoming events, please send an email to KKSCOV@gmail.com. We appreciate your patience as we get the kinks out. Aquatone is a toning water workout that incorporates a variety of rhythmic body movements performed in the water. This aquatic exercise class enhances cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance. We meet Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, 9 AM in the winter, 8 AM in the summer at the AFC pool. There is no fee to join the club or the class. The teachers are club member volunteers. Being able to do a basic swim stroke is very helpful. Items used in the class are buoys, board, noodle, ball and fitness band. Most are available at the pool. A band can be purchased from Marcia for $5. We assign an experienced member to a newcomer to help with learning the various movements. You will get a good workout in a fun class.

The Fitness Swim Club provides a vehicle for swimmers to participate in a group swim workout. We generally go 2,400 to 3,000 yards, mostly freestyle per workout. Some do more, few do less.
