Divots September 2019 From The Pro Shop We Win Again! Once again, thanks to your support and an outstanding job by all the staff, The Views Golf Club was voted The Best Golf Course in the Tucson area. We edged out some stiff competition in Ventana Canyon and SaddleBrook 1 to win the 2019 Arizona Daily Star Reader’s Choice Award. Thanks for voting for us and more importantly for playing your golf here at The Views. Overseed is around the Corner Enjoy the excellent conditions and our stunning views while you can. September is the time of the year we plant the winter ryegrass on the golf course for the upcoming season. It requires the assistance of all residents to make sure not to drive golf carts or walk on the golf course while the new grass seed is being planted and watered. The golf course will be closed during overseeding starting Monday, September 23 and will open back up for play on Monday, October 14. The September Pro Shop hours will be open for regular hours 6 AM - 5 PM through Sunday, September 23. We will be closed September 24 & 25 and re-open for limited hours 9 AM -12:00 PM September 26 October 13. During over-seeding, the range will be open, and practice balls will be hit off mats only beginning September 26. Now is an excellent time to purchase a range card. You can buy 20 large buckets for $150 and save $2.50 per bucket or 50 large buckets for $300 a savings of $4 per bucket off the regular price!

Once we open for play on October 14, all golf carts must remain on the cart path only for a couple of weeks. The projected date for golf carts to start driving on the grass will be Tuesday, October 29. Coming Saturday, October 12 will be our 2nd Annual Run the Views 5K. You can choose to walk or run the course and experience the golf course from a whole different perspective. The event will take place on holes 1-10. All interested participants may sign up on our website www.theviewsgolfclub.com. What About Those Grips? Have you been thinking about changing those slick (in a bad way), worn-out, driedout grips? Well if you have it’s time to see Tom the Gripmaster. We have grips from Golf Pride, Lamkin, Super Stroke and Winn. We also carry a great selection of Team Putter Grips. Display your favorite team, college or pro or go with the Super Stroke models with The Views logo. During overseed, we will discount all grips 10% as well as give pass holders and residents $1 off the normal re-gripping charge of $3. Summer Series Finals The play with the Pro Summer Series is set. Qualifiers and their team scores in the one best ball gross and one best ball net are as follows. Team Price -22 Rick Price Robert Taylor Steven Wallace Troy Short Team MacKinney -16 Tom MacKinney John Balaco Bill Waters Rocky Richards Team Lochner -15 Tim Lochner

Vince Cardinal Jim Stone Ray Harrison The 18-hole final takes place at 1pm on Tuesday September 3. The Etiquette Corner Quiet on the Tee! Ever play with that someone who although the fairway or green is clear they keep on talking about whatever …… Proper etiquette on the golf course is to play away when it is safe. Wrap up your story or say “to be continued” when it’s clear to hit away. Or better yet, save it for the 19th hole. Pet Peeves The pet peeve for September is the dwindling supply of range baskets. Range baskets are not to be taken off the range. Range balls are provided for the chipping area. Range balls should not be taken from the range for future use. Thank you for eliminating the pet peeve of the month! Tip from the Pro The best putting tip I ever received was from my best friend’s dad. I was struggling with the putter and becoming frustrated…sound familiar? He told me, “You know Tom, when you putt there are only two outcomes. You’ll either make it or you won’t.” Sounds a bit trite, but I began to stop beating myself up, relax more and developed more patience with my putts not all falling. So, remember only one of two things will happen when you putt. I’m hoping for the good thing! Good luck!
