SHASTA CASCADE WONDERLAND ASSOCIATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING Tuesday September 9, 2014 California Welcome Center The regular quarterly meeting of the Shasta Cascade Wonderland Association was held on Tuesday, SEPTEMBER 9, 2014 at the Anderson Welcome Center. The meeting was called to order at 10:07 a.m. by Chairman Ed Rullman. The following board members and guests were present: In Person: Ed Rullman – President – City of Redding Matt Doyle – Director – Shasta County North Dave Gowan – VP -Tehama County Michael Han – Director –Lassen County Kelli Gant – Director – Trinity County Laurie Baker – SCWA General Manager Lisa May – SCWA Director of Tourism Development & Sales Jeff Titcomb – Treasurer – Plumas County Bink Huddleston - Attendee Via Conference Phone: Debra Lucero – Butte County Lorissa Soriano – Director – Modoc County 1. Call to order at 10:07 a.m. 2. Confirm Quorum Roll call taken with attendance sign-in sheet Quorum confirmed with 8 Board Members in attendance (4 needed for a quorum) 3. Approval of Agenda Jeff Titcomb made motion to approve agenda – Matt Doyle 2nd Vote: all approved, 0 opposed, 0 abstained Motion passed to accept agenda as submitted 4. Approval of Minutes from June 2014 meeting Motion to approve June 2014 minutes by Jeff Titcomb , Lorissa 2nd motion Vote: All in favor, 0 opposed 5. Public Comment – none 6. Siskiyou County Board Member vacancy Laurie noted Keli Anthis, Strawberry Valley Inn has accepted pending approval by County Board of Supervisors. She will partner with the board to reach out to Jim Mullins, Mt. Shasta Chamber. 7. Financial Report Financial Report for FY 2013/14 was presented by Laurie Baker Clarifications and details discussed Dave Gowan moved for approval of SCWA budget Jeff 2nd. All in favor, 0 opposed Financials approved as presented 8. Contract with Shasta County Laurie – Shasta County has agreed to contract with SCWA allowing RCVB to be the Shasta County Film Commissioner
Debra moved to sign contract, Matt 2nd All in favor, none opposed 9. Tourism Summit Speakers and Date Agreed that May/Tourism Week best time to hold event. May 5 -6 agreed dates. Ed suggested Caroline Beteta for intro speaker and another person for keynote speaker Deb suggested involving Leadership Redding and putting art and culture on agenda Ed thought it would be beneficial to have groups that organize beer and wine events share their promotional ideas Laurie would like Tourism Summit planning committee – Deb, Jeff and Kelli interested. Jeff will chair and present report at next meeting. Kelli suggested each county have opportunity to discuss their top 3 highlights. 10. Share What’s New in your Region: Jeff – Plumas - Updated old longboard ski hill Lorissa – Modoc County Courthouse getting huge facelift, will be updating displays. o Debra added that Butte County completed similar update 11. Fall Colors – Color Spotters Laurie explained Fall Colors campaign and asked board to participate. Ed suggested finding professional photographers in each county to participate Debra mentioned RCVB’s campaign on what to do in our area with hashtag, suggested similar campaign with #capturecolors Michael asked how does Fall Colors get people to visit our region? o Jeff responded Plumas County doing this for long time. Media gives exposure, writers and photographers come. 12. Comments/Questions Laurie stated all board members can submit updated photos for panels in CWC. We will send dimensions and quantities. Lorissa announced sheep dog trials Ed moved to adjourn, Jeff 2nd all in favor 0 opposed. SCWA meeting adjourned at 11:09 a.m.
