Anjali Rawat G1 Villa (Mumbai)
This is a guesthouse situated in one of the Mumbai suburbs, Chembur. It is a stylish yet comfortable home, exuding a pared down luxury and soothing ambiance. While creating a city home it was necessary to highlight clean lines and luxury materials with minimum decoration, putting more emphasis on accenting the comfort and spaciousness of the space. The design manifests a kindred relation between colors figures and qualities through coordination of material texture, furniture, and lighting fixtures and day lighting.

ostentatious Prominence was laid on creating an interior/exterior environment that is communicative and integrated into the existing surrounding yet which provides a degree of privacy to the residents. The garden in the front was created to further open up and integrate the space, allowing more light penetration and connection with the immediate environment. One enters in and traverses his way to the entrance, the unwinding pathway giving a sense of entry. Dense plantations around the ground floors ensure the same, while allowing the landscape to reflect inwards. Integration is further enhanced by the use of granite in various finishes, blending with the environment. On the exterior one sees a blend of river-wash, polished and leather finished granite playfully deployed in a geometric pattern.

“The interiors of the place exude comfort and luxury in an eclectic fashion. One will see bold use of combinations that we rarely see.

articulated elements
An expensive Italian marble top dining table is abutted by rustic cane chairs, against the backdrop of an exposed brick wall and a cantilevered staircase, and next to it in the living room; you will find a rustic wooden trunk centre table sits comfortably with a chic contemporary sofa- An incredible blend of modern contemporary and natural elements. Wood is used liberally to bring warmth and contrast to the austere black floor, a very bold move by the architect, and to linkup with the trees in the background. The black honed granite floor imparts a sense of comfort that old houses belonging to an era bygone. Exceptional again, but it gives a sense of luxury, allowing the warmth of the brickwork and wooden veneers to stand out. In the bedrooms, stark white walls are softened by taupe tones, lit by warm lights. The home theatre has a black granite feature wall that holds a frameless TV seamlessly as a part of itself, with subtle natural stones finish which is actually a classic Italian Georgio Greasan Textured stone paint. From sculptures, paintings and door accessories, everything has been handpicked by the architect and tastefully articulated in her design.
