Archana & Amit Shah An Artistic Luxury (Ahmedabad)
Creating that perfect luxury is all about amalgamating tradition with the modern. Sprawled across an area of 8000 sq. ft., this high end bungalow belonged to one of the prominent builders of the city. They wished to have a stylish, practical and modern house and that was kept in mind throughout the designing process. Hence, the ambience had to draw us primarily to adhering to the functional aspects of the home while still retaining essence of beauty and wonder about the space itself. Also, they wanted to remodel its existing frame without changing the exteriors and to perfectly utilize the spaces within. Keeping their requirements and lifestyle in check, the vocabulary for the house was derived.

exuberating The bungalow is enclosed by the luxuriant greenery and this residential property is a cocoon of peace and plush harmony that is a world away from the drama surrounding it. Blending this scenic beauty with the interiors seamlessly makes the design wholesome. Therefore, in order to enhance the beauty and magnificence of the green view enclosing it, the bungalow is simple and minimalistic with modern dĂŠcor. This improves upon the calming influences of the verdant surroundings.
“We did not want a particular style which has a shelf life and aimed at creating a classic, timeless design.
All the furniture and art installation is customised by the in house team. A sit out is created attached to the dining which has picturesque view to the vertical fountain garden in that area. It is highlighted by subtle lighting.

The pooja room is small yet regal. The colored lights at the backdrop of sheers on windows dramatize the entire double heighted seating outside the room. The wooden partition that separates the drawing room and the staircase has decorative niches created which display art-e-facts. The open space plan of the house is treated in a way that the spaces flow into one another, without any clutter. The guest room has the sophisticated look, while the master bedroom flaunts the same color scheme consisting of beige, browns and white. The room opens to a large balcony which makes it airy. The children's room is youthful and vibrant. Though consistency has been maintained throughout the house in terms of color scheme, a dash of blue in this room breaks the monotony and adds vibrancy to the dĂŠcor. The use of white color exudes an element of space while the clutter- free dĂŠcor makes the style statement.

the challenges Originally the main entrance of the house was just below the landing of the stairs which were interfering the grandeur of the house. Hence, a major shift had to be made. Dividing the spaces properly without disturbing the open plan was an odd task. Also the dining area was directly in front of the main door and hence hiding them without breaking the openness was an issue. We treated them with the leaf partition to avoid merging of the two areas. Due to open planning, the stairs are also kept open.
