This pent villa project for a nuclear Bohra family is located in one of the most prestigious localities in Nashik . The family was extremely design conscious and wanted the space to not only satisfy the needs of the family, but also to be a trend setting design. Accordingly, the house is now a fine example of the client’s clear vision comprising of his functional requirements, status and lifestyle in mind. The existing plans were revived with opening up the space and re-orienting the staircase position which acts as the spine of the villa. The client’s modernist approach to the life but with strong religious beliefs led to the need of using Islamic patterns right from the entry door to the interiors of the house in different forms. The narrow entrance as proposed in the villa was shifted and few walls were knocked down to create a spacious entrance lobby. The spaces were made fluid open and connected which was achieved through continuity in the material finishes. The entrance door with the metallic cut jali leads you to well balance clean lined and plush interiors.

divine The open living dining space is given continuation by using the same floor finish. The interplay of ceiling in walnut veneer finish accentuated with the repetitive jali and cove lights adds to the a esthetic and lavishness to the space. Also the dining room is an extension to living room where in the backdrop to the dining is enhanced by the continuous Italian marble cladding on the walls. The living room opens up onto a huge sun deck which brings in the lots of natural ventilation and the sunlight. The sundeck overlooks the Greenfields till the ending skylights. Much drama and excitement is added by enveloping the openings to the sundeck using glass strips on the floor with hidden lights. The green wall on the deck creates seamless indooroutdoor connection.

“The beautifully articulated staircase becomes an elemental and integral part of the living space.

The daughter’s Bedroom in the given space was interestingly planned to accommodate the spacious bed and a proper study area. Coated glass paneling on the with defined veneer backrest on the bed added elegance to the coziness. The study interestingly emerges out of the bed border. What comes as the highlight of the villa is the terrace with the infinity pool overlooking the serene landscape. A raised platform is perpendicularly aligned hanging over the pool area, giving a floating effect. A two-seater Jacuzzi is smartly placed at the hanging corner of the platform corner. Rustic floor tiles with blue motifs tiles creating a carpet effect making the space look warm and dramatized. The smooth merge of classical and modern elements is brought by an antique snake boat placed in the infinity pool. The ambient lighting and the use of travertine stone cladding at the backdrop of the platform with horizontal-vertical green wall has added to dramatic effect in this area.

Relaxing and privacy are what most of us look for in Master Suit and the Master Bedroom of the client is the perfect blend of both with added aesthetic and lavishness. The continuous use of Italian marble in the bathroom with the use of golden motifs adds to the richness of the toilet giving it all a lively touch. The TV unit cum study unit in the master bedroom is designed on clean clines and ease of maintenance.

the challenges It was challenging because being a penthouse it wasn't possible to not deal much with façade. Also reorienting the services was not possible to a greater extent.

“As this was a fusion project, the inspiration mainly came from the client's keen interest in retaining some authentic Islamic patterns while giving them a modern look.” - Aslam Kadri
