Jay Prakash Agarwal Lovelock (Kolkata)
The developer of the project is Siddha Group who is one of the leading developers of the city. They have been in the field for 25 years. A few of their landmark projects of the town have been developed by them. The Siddha Lovelock is located in one of the posh localities of Kolkata. Considering the size of the plot, our client wanted to have a boutique posh residential condominium. They also wanted to raise the bar of luxury apartment standard and put up something very unique which could earn a good name for this Group as a developer.

bilinear This project is unique mainly due to its façade designs, exterior and interior finishes. The building façade is designed with real wood post laid in a scattered and uneven manner at every floor, with varying height. The walls are created with imported reconfigured wood which is also weather proof. The woody look is combined with off white horizontal bends and off white stone finished walls which in turn generates a very unique composition. The whole ambiance of the project is not only posh but earthy and artistic. The driveway flooring and concrete sculptures contribute in creating the artistic look.

“The building has one flat per floor with a two level duplex on the top. Meticulously detailed terrace gardens finally act as an icing on the cake in the whole creation.”

simplicity paralleled Apart from all the conventional materials used commonly in building the two very unique products, used in this project are imported epay wood plants and reconfigured wooden sheets which have a water proof character. To use the wood in such volume in the exterior was the real challenge as the maintenance of the wood in long term was a matter of concern. We decided to go for imported epay wood and Weather Tex as a best available solution. Apart from this many other materials were used to bring an artistic touch and value addition into the project.
Right: Sleek wooden post acting as sun breakers and recomposed wooden plank cladding with sleek white horizontal lines created a contemporary edifice maintaining the ageless earthiness

the challenges The building structure is as such fairly simple with RCC frame but the challenging part was to create the driveway all-round the building with large cantilevers. We decided to flout the columns beyond the building to avoid the column offsets falling inside the room. This was the real challenge and the same was successfully executed with the support of our very compatible structural consultants.
the influences The major influence is the design philosophy taught by the Master Architects FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT & LOUIS KAHN where the architecture becomes shelter perfectly woven with the nature in all possible aspects.
