Sanjay Newaskar Designs LLP Twin Bungalow (Pune)
This house is designed for a family of two brothers, who own a Jewellery Shop in Pune. Both the brothers wanted to maintain 'unity in diversity' theme for their houses. They wanted to use same material with different shades and wanted to maintain same look overall. This was a typical urban assignment where the client's requirement was more than the size of the plot. This house completely justifies the theme and reflects the personality and taste of those accustomed to the best in quality design, finishes and lifestyle.

permeating Some houses take their characters from one or two materials that are employed in a boldly expressive way. In this case the two boldly used materials were Red Traventino and Notche Traventino combines with natural wooden cladding. The bungalow has a parents' room in common which is accessible from both the bungalows. The first bungalow is designed in angular line form (geometrical) and second in smooth line form (curvature). Throughout the bungalow there is an artful interplay of space and view, enhanced by the continuity of external and internal materials, which fuses interior and exterior spaces. Large uncultured living spaces allow a wide variety of functions. A natural skylight from the wooden pergolas follows through the staircase area and travels in the living area.
“The basic and the most unique thing of the project is that these are Two different bungalows, designed in such a way that they look like a single bungalow. The curvature and geometrical forms are designed in elevations.

the challenges The main challenge was to create uniqueness in both bungalows but by using same materials with same planning. So the bungalows are designed with 2 different forms i.e geometrical & curvature. The natural skylight through the pergolas in the stair way is another unique feature. It casts different shadows in the day light and the cut-out on the walls with lights create a soothing mood at the night time.
the influences “The client's brief was enough to inspire us. The geometric and curvature diversity was smartly united under the same feel that enveloped both the bungalows together. - Sanjay Newaskar
