Mission: To communicate the science of colour in a changing world. Vision: Our vision is to become the leading global market provider of information and expertise on colour science and coloration, with an international reputation that backs up our position. History: The Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC) was established in 1884, founded by 50 colour chemists who wanted to improve the technical knowledge of those in the textile trade and bring people together in 'friendly converse'. In November 1962 the SDC achieved charitable status to promote by any or all available means the advancement of the science of colour as an Education Charity. In 1963 the SDC was granted a Royal Charter by the Privy Council and began to award the Chartered Colourist status in recognition of individual professionalism and on-going learning and development in Colour Chemistry.
