To keep our Miramar College community updated on campus construction, below you’ll find a status report on all current projects. The Automotive Tech expansion project is nearly complete, and the Arts & Humanities and Business & Mathematics buildings are not far behind. Arts & Humanities/Business & Mathematics Buildings The h Arts & Humanities Building (Building ld ( ld A)) is close l to completion. Final millwork is being completed and marker boards are being installed. Our new recording studios have their hardwood flooring! The testing and balance of the HVAC system continues. The Business & Mathematics Building (Building B) is a scant two weeks behind The raised (Building B) is a scant two weeks behind. The raised access flooring is completed and ceiling tiles are being installed. Interior finish work is moving quickly as well.
Parking Structure & Police Station Have you noticed the steady stream of concrete trucks on campus? The first level concrete trucks on campus? The first level of the parking structure and police station has been poured and prep work continues for upper levels. All told, there will be 800 concrete truck deliveries, and more than 8,400 yards of concrete used. The project is scheduled to be completed June 2011. scheduled to be completed June 2011.

Expansion of Automotive Tech
Phase I is essentially complete. Design and consulting ongoing for Phase II, including cost estimating, draft RFQs and project kickoffs.
The expansion will add about 6,500 sq. ft. and include new classrooms, laboratory space, storage, and enhanced ADA access along with renovations to the existing space. The project is expected to be done in November of this year, well ahead of the original March 2011 date. Masonry work went quickly; stucco prep is moving just as quickly.

Library Learning Resource Center (LLRC) We recently marked hitting the high point of the LLRC with the Topping Off ceremony, with faculty, staff and students signing that final beam before its hoisting. Cafeteria/Bookstore and Student/ Campus Center This project will be done in two increments. Aviation Maintenance Technology Center gy The Miramar Aviation Maintenance Building Technology Center project will repair and renovate the existing 15,300 SF building. This will include retrofit of existing classrooms and lab spaces and the construction of new classroom spaces. Currently, we are 90% complete with construction documents, and are reviewing code requirements from the DSA regarding a dust reviewing code requirements from the DSA regarding a dust collection system.
