PROJECT DESCRIPTION The project, formerly known as the General Purpose Classroom Building, consists of land acquisition and construction of a new 85,000 square foot classroom building for Mathematics, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and the District’s Military Education program. The five-story building will also house the District’s Corporate Education Center, featuring a 120seat lecture hall, 100-seat multipurpose room, two 40seat conference hall classrooms, two small conference rooms and an instructional computer classroom. There will be collaborative common areas, support space for instructional and staff needs, and retail space. The project will include a seven-story parking structure adjacent to the building, with 393 stalls. A 6,700 square foot Family Health Center will be located on the first floor of the parking structure.

Use of water-efficient plumbing fixtures Low-emissivity (Low-E) glazing on windows allows natural light in but blocks radiant heat Formaldehyde-free and chlorofluorocarbon-free (CFC) materials Low volatile organic compound (VOC) emitting materials, adhesives and paints 75% of construction materials, waste and debris will be diverted from landfill disposal Use of recycled materials throughout the project Increased ventilation for improved indoor air quality Energy-efficient lighting with adjustable lighting controls
The building is on track to obtain a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).
