Project Description j p The 7,000 square‐foot Mesa College Police Offices include a spacious waiting area, offices, a conference room, a secure suspect processing area, and a locker room area outfitted with daylight‐harvesting fixtures and waterless and low‐flow plumbing fixtures. The landscape design uses low water use plants and trees, and a high‐efficiency irrigation system. The project is currently undergoing the application process to obtain a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. It would be the District’s first police facility to be LEED certified.
Sustainable Features Photovoltaic (solar) panels attached to the top of the attached parking structure will help offset energy needs for both the Police Station and the nearby Allied Health building. Nearly two‐thirds of construction waste was diverted from the local landfill, exceeding the 50% requirement in the District’s Green Building Policy. As a participant in San Diego Gas & Electric’s Sustainable Communities Program, the project achieves significant energy savings Here are some achieves significant energy savings.
