New Student Services
Mesa College Design Center
PROPOSITIONS S & N FACILITIES UPDATE – July 2010 Summer is the time to “make waves” on construction projects! Several new infrastructure projects are starting and the three larger building projects, Student Services, Mesa College Design Center, and Central Plant, are underway. It is a busy time and we appreciate your patience and participation in building a better Mesa College campus. Ron Perez, Vice President of Administrative Services
Photovoltaic Project Mesa College and District Facility Services Department are doing their part to reduce greenhouse gas emissions via the construction of solar photovoltaic structures in 3 of Mesa’s parking lots: Parking Lot #1, Parking Lot #2, and the Parking Structure. These systems will generate over 1 kilowatt hour of power from a renewable source, which is an operational savings to the District of $50,000 and is equivalent to power for 250,000 SF of Mesa buildings or 500-600 single family homes. An added bonus is that these 12,984 PV panels will create shaded parking for us and will greatly reduce the “heat island effect” prevalent in large expanses of asphalt or concrete. SDCCD is leading the charge in environmental efficiency and we are proud that Mesa will be a showcase for sustainability. The completion of the PV project in Lot #1 is scheduled for August 17, 2010.
