Neutrino Day: A Cosmic Symphony
SDPB celebrates the 11th annual science festival at the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF) in Lead, SD. This year’s city-wide science festival explores the infinite intersections between science and the arts. Visitors are encouraged to park at the Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center.

SDPB’s Cara Hetland hosts Innovation live from the 4850 level of SURF, the former Homestake Mine. Features live interviews with SURF Executive Director Mike Headley and
Dr. José Francisco Salgado, Emmy-nominated astronomer, experimental photographer, visual artist, and science communicator known for creating multimedia works that communicate science in engaging new ways. Salgado’s new film, The Legend of the Northern Lights combines visual imagery and music to tell the story behind the Northern Lights phenomena, and is a collaboration between Salgado and the Black Hills Symphony Orchestra. The performance includes a narrator and the BHSO performs live on Saturday, July 13 at the Historic Homestake Opera House.
