SDPB Supporter Spotlight
by SDPB
Gene Brownell, Athletic Director, Aberdeen Public School
Gene Brownell has dedicated 48 years to public education. For 22 of those 48, Brownell has been the Athletic Director for Aberdeen Public Schools, where he oversees everything from staffing, scheduling, transportation and administration for Golden Eagles athletics. Prior to his position as AD, Brownell coached cross country and track and field for 26 years.
In his tenure, Brownell has managed over 50 events for the South Dakota High School Activities Association, most of which have been covered by SDPB. “SDPB brings high school activities and sports to every corner, nook, and cranny throughout the state,” says Brownell. “Without SDPB the average, everyday citizen of our state would not have an opportunity to view these events in their entirety, which is a great gift for all those who want to receive it.”
“My relationship with the professionals in front of and behind the cameras has been a great learning experience for me. They bring to the table a dedication to purpose and professionalism that rubs off on everyone with whom they come into contact. These ambassadors for SDPB do a wonderful job of telling the story of high school sports and activities in our state.“
SDPB thanks Gene Brownell for his dedication to South Dakota’s students and for his high words of praise.
