Friends of SDPB Welcomes New Board Members

The Friends of SDPB is pleased to announce four new members have joined its board of directors.

Vernon Brown, Sioux Falls

Vernon Brown.

Vernon Brown is Vice President of Marketing & Community Relations for SDN Communications, a position he has held for 18 years. He also worked as a reporter for KELOLAND TV for 12 years and was a Sioux Falls City Councilor for eight. He has served on the 911 Coordination Board, Vote Yes for Sioux Falls Schools, and the Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation, among others. He and his wife Tami own The Spice & Tea Exchange of Sioux Falls.

Tom Hurlbert, Sioux Falls

Tom Hurlbert is co-founder/ owner of CO-OP Architectures, with offices in Sioux Falls, Aberdeen and Rapid City. He also serves on the board of the South Dakota State Historical Society, the America Institute of Architects-SD, and the Sioux Falls’ Main Street Business Improvement District, among others.

Mike Mueller is the communications manager for Delta Dental of South Dakota. He has also worked as Special Projects Coordinator for the SD Bureau of Administration and the Director of Advertising & Public Relations for the South Dakota Lottery.

Carole L. Johnson, PT, Ph.D., is retired from a career in practicing and teaching physical therapy and wound care in the Seattle area. She does most of her board work in tandem with her favorite volunteer, her husband Alan, a University of Washington electrical engineering graduate and retired general manager for U.S. West.
