Golden Eagle Quick Hits The Year of the Trophy • 2013 has been the year of the trophy at UMC as the Golden Eagles have captured both of their major rivalry games this year, capturing the “Hubcap” with a 16-14 homecoming win over Bemidji State University and taking home the “State Farm Traveling Trophy” after a 20-14 win over Minnesota State University Moorhead last Saturday in the “Red River Valley Showdown”. Chasing Three • The Golden Eagles will be chasing their third win this weekend. If the Golden Eagles are able to get three or more wins this season it will mark the first time since 2001 when the Golden Eagles picked up four wins on the season. UMC has already won four NSIC games in the last two seasons, which is the most wins the Golden Eagles have had in back-to-back seasons since 2000 and 2001 when they had 10. In addition, as the Golden Eagles chase back-to-back wins this weekend, it would mark the first time since Sept. 22 and 29, 2001 when UMC beat University of Minnesota Duluth and Minnesota State University, Moorhead. Number 5 • Talo Pascal (So., RB, Arlington, Texas/Communications) is breaking onto the scence after his last two performance in the backfield for the Golden Eagles. The sophomore has back-to-back 100 yard games and is averaging 127.0 yards per game in the last two after 132 yards last weekend against MSU Moorhead and 122 yards the weekend prior versus St. Cloud State University. Pascal came up big last week, a week where the Golden Eagles needed him to, as they were missing starting running back Keith McBride (Sr., RB, Lodi, Wis./Management) due to a concussion. McBride will be back this week to share the load with Pascal. FUMBLE! • The Golden Eagles are in eighth nationally heading into the weekend for fumbles recovered this season with a total of 11. The national leader has 13. UMC has had 11 different players recover fumbles this season. Overall UMC has forced 17 fumbles on the 2013 season. The Golden Eagles are ranked 69th overall in the nation for turnovers gained with 14. Running For Records • UMC senior running back Keith McBride (Sr., RB, Lodi, Wis./Management) is ethcing his name in the record books for his career as he currently ranks fifth all-time at UMC for rushing yards with 2,063 yards and needs just 227 rushing yards to move past Derrick Sanders in fourth place. In addition, McBride is third all-time in rushing attempts with 511. He needs just 33 carries to move past Richard Haley in second place. In addition, McBride ranks fourth all-time for rushing touchdowns with 15 and needs just two to move past Derrick Sanders in third place. Piceno with the Reception • Freshman wide receiver Keoni Piceno (Wahiawa, Hawai’i/Sports and Rec Management) has become the big play guy for the Golden Eagle receiving corps and has come on in recent games for the Golden Eagles. Piceno had three catches for 60 yards and one touchdown last weekend against MSU Moorhead and had a 62-yard touchdown grab in the win against Bemidji State Uni-
