Golden Eagle Quick Hits And He Could. Go. All. The. Way. • Paul Webster (Sr., DB, Opa-Locka, Fla./Criminal Justice) has become a specialist at returning blocked kicks as he returned a blocked extra point for two points last season against U-Mary and returned a blocked field goal 85 yards for a touchdown last weekend against Minot State. Webster is coming off perhaps his best game as a Golden Eagle, as he had 11 tackles to lead the way against the Beavers. Backfield Trio • The University of Minnesota Crookston has three running backs this season that present different threats to opposing defenses. Keith McBride (Sr., RB, Lodi, Wis./Management) is your more downfield, old-fashioned down and dirty running back that you can count on to bulldoze defenders. In contrast, the Golden Eagles also have speedsters Talo Pascal (So., RB, Arlington, Texas/ Communications) and Tommy Smith (So., RB, Naranja, Fla./Marketing). All three have had fairly strong seasons for the Golden Eagles this season. Pascal is the leading rusher for UMC coming into the weekend with 410 yards on 117 carries while McBride has 306 yards on 68 carries. Smith has 206 yards on 44 carries this season and has the largest average yards per carry this season for UMC at 4.7. Sacking The Quarterback • The Golden Eagles are coming off perhaps one of their best pass rushing games of recent history with six sacks last weekend against Minot State. The Golden Eagles will look to put pressure on the UMD quarterback this weekend. Rene Lawson (So., DL, Arlington, Texas/Communications) led the way for UMC with 1.5 sacks while Ricky Jacobs (Sr., LB, Junction City, Kan./Sports and Rec Management), Jonique Andrews (Sr., DL, Oakland, Calif./Criminal Justice), Drew Selvestra (So., DL, Eagan, Minn./Criminal Justice), Greg Lofquist (Jr., DL, South St. Paul, Minn./Criminal Justice) and Andrew Hall (Jr., LB, Detroit, Mich./Criminal Justice) also had sacks for the Golden Eagles. The UMC defensive line was strong against the Beavers and will need to push forward in the final three games of the 2013 season. Running For Records • UMC senior running back Keith McBride (Sr., RB, Lodi, Wis./Management) is ethcing his name in the record books for his career as he currently ranks fifth all-time at UMC for rushing yards with 2,069 yards and needs just 221 rushing yards to move past Derrick Sanders in fourth place. In addition, McBride is third all-time in rushing attempts with 514. He needs just 30 carries to move past Richard Haley in second place. In addition, McBride ranks fourth all-time for rushing touchdowns with 15 and needs just two to move past Derrick Sanders in third place. Chasing Three • The Golden Eagles will be chasing their third win this weekend. If the Golden Eagles are able to get three or more wins this season it will mark the first time since 2001 when the Golden Eagles picked up four wins on the season. UMC has already won four NSIC games in the last two seasons, which is the most wins the Golden Eagles have had in back-to-back seasons since 2000 and 2001
