UMC freshman center Emily Gruber is coming off her strongest weekend with the Golden Eagles. Gruber averaged 23.5 points and 6.5 rebounds on the weekend en route to an NSIC North Player of the Week nod. Gruber’s 26 points and six rebounds helped guide the Golden Eagles to an upset over No. 8 Wayne State. Her performance against the Wildcats, was selected as a BennettRank Gem of the Week. Gruber is averaging 10.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game this season.

UMC junior forward Katrina Moenkedick has also been a major factor of late for the Golden Eagles. Moenkedick averaged 19 points and 6.5 rebounds last weekend against Wayne State and Augustana. The junior had 24 points and nine boards in UMC’s upset over No. 7 Wayne State. Moenkedick is averaging 14.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.

The Golden Eagles came away with one of the program’s biggest upsets as they upended No. 7 Wayne State College (Neb.) last Friday. UMC was 21-of-56 from the field for 37.5 percent and 24-of-29 from the charity stripe for 82.8 percent. The Golden Eagles also dominated the boards, out-rebounding teams 4922. UMC was led by 26 points from Emily Gruber and 24 points from Katrina Moenkedick.
