Golden Eagle Quick Hits Game-Winner Christine Thorn (So., G, St. Michael, Minn./Elementary Education) is coming off one of her best games of the season Saturday against MSU Moorhead. Thorn hit the game-winning lay-up with 30 seconds remaining to lead the Golden Eagles to a 65-63 win over the Dragons. Thorn had just seven points but where she was outstanding was in finding her teammates. Thorn had a season-hihg for any Golden Eagle player with eight assists against the Dragons. Thorn also had a solid game against Northern State in the 69-60 loss. Thorn had 10 points on 3-of-5 shooting against the Wolves. Looking For A Road Win The Golden Eagles have played great basketball at Lysaker Gymnasium this season as they currently own a 7-4 mark at home, but Minnesota Crookston has struggled on the road this season. The Golden Eagles seek their first road victory of the season as they head to Minot State and U-Mary. UMC is currently 0-5 on the year in road games. Consistency UMC sophomore forward Katrina Moenkedick (So., F, Perham, Minn./Early Childhood Education) has been the epitome of consistency this season for the Golden Eagles. Moenkedick has scored in double figures in all 16 games this season for the Golden Eagles. Moenkedick’s lowest-scoring game was 10 points against St. Cloud State Dec. 7. Moenkedick has scored 20 or more points on five occasions this season with a season-high 30 points against Upper Iowa Jan. 3. Moenkedick comes into thsi weekend as the leading scorer for the Golden Eagles with an average of 16.3 points per game this season. Cienna Coming On Strong The production off the bench from Cienna Walker (Jr., G, Ajax, Ontario/Marketing) has steadling improved this season. Walker is coming off nine points and six boards in the win over MSU Moorhead. Her career high of 15 points came against Augustana Jan. 11. Coaching Notes Assistants Nate Mahlen and Kamille Wahlin are scheduled to coach the games this weekend against U-Mary and Minot State for UMC with Head Coach Mike Roysland dealing with a family matter.
