Golden Eagle Quick Hits At The Last Second Alexa Thielman (So., G, Buffalo, Minn./Health Science) hit the game-winning jumper with 13 seconds remaining to lead UMC past Concordia-St. Paul 59-58. The Golden Eagles have wins over Minot State University, Southwest Minnesota State University, Minnesota State University Moorhead, Winona State University, Upper Iowa University and Bemidji State University in the league so far this year. Thielman has been a clutch player for the Golden Eagles this season and is the most improve player for Minnesota Crookston, averaging around six points per game as a freshman and now averaging 15.0 points per game. Done At Home The Golden Eagles are now done playing at the friendly confines of Lysaker Gymnasium, and will turn their attention to the road as they close out the season away from home against St. Cloud State University and University of Minnesota Duluth. The Golden Eagles had a great showing at home this season, finishing with a 9-6 record overall and a 6-4 mark in conference play. UMC has struggled on the road, however, this season, as they will look to salvage things with a solid performance this weekend. UMC is 1-8 away from home this season, with their lone win coming against Southwest Minnesota State University Feb. 1. 10 Wins The Golden Eagles reached 10 wins for the first time since the 2010-11 season when Minnesota Crookston finished 13-14. They accomplished 10 wins with the victory over Concordia-St. Paul Friday. The Golden Eagles have accomplished 10 wins now three times under the leadership of Head Coach Mike Roysland. The Golden Eagles picked up 10 wins during the 2009-10 season, as well. The Canuck University of Minnesota Crookston junior Cienna Walker (G, Ajax, Ontario/Marketing) has exhibited solid play for the Golden Eagles off the bench during the last nine games for UMC. Walker is averaging eight points and 5.7 rebounds per game during the last nine games. Walker is coming off one of her best games of the season in the win over Concordia-St. Paul, as she had 12 points and five boards. Walker also had 12 points, and added six rebounds.
