Fiscal Year 2020-2021
I M PA C T O F P H I L A N T H R O P Y The SDSU Library has supported learning, scholarship, and engagement throughout the pandemic by investing in digital content and technology to ensure that the University Library remains at the center of learning, both in the classroom and outside of it, and by providing the highest level of access to scholarly content, research support, and services designed to promote student success. The Library is at the heart of SDSU’s scholarship, innovation, creativity, and community, and our librarians and staff rose to the challenge with creative, effective solutions to help students and faculty succeed in a virtual learning environment. We deeply appreciate your support of the Library’s efforts to help students navigate an unprecedented educational environment.

It was generous donor support that helped the SDSU Library to quickly and creatively solve issues for SDSU students and faculty as they made the “pivot” to the fully online learning environment the pandemic created. Despite the fact that the library buildings were closed to the public, Library employees designed and delivered entirely new services through online platforms, including those provided by the Digital Humanities Center and the “build IT” makerspace. They answered more than 21,000 questions from members of the SDSU community, taught more than 200 classes. Students benefited from online services when the Library stepped up to meet the challenges of the past pandemic year. Check the next page for a few stats!
With your help, the SDSU Library was able to acquire new digital content, including thousands of e-books that supported classes across the curriculum, along with access to licensed digital content that reflects the Library’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
