#14

I write to express my deep gratitude for contributions to the department, including the first named endowment, as an expression of confidence in our faculty and their contributions to student success. During 2021-22, our faculty have done a tremendous job supporting our students returning to face-to-face instruction and expanding scholarships. We have continued to innovate our curriculum, launching new and redesigned programs while introducing a new certificate in entrepreneurship aimed at reaching majors across campus. Your support has also motivated us to continue our initiatives despite the challenges confronted by the pandemic. Chamu Sundaramurthy, Ph.D. Professor Chair, Management Department

Student Spotlight

The Fowler College of Business Management Department provided me with the fundamental knowledge and skills required to succeed as an emerging professional.

Grace Coulter, graduated December 2021, management major (HR specialization), received the 2022 Outstanding Student in Management Award

The relevant coursework, coupled with the dedicated mentorship from professors, developed my confidence and leadership ability. Professors truly care about students, and the passion for their expertise translates to the classroom environment. For example, Dr. Michelle Dean, advisor for Society for Human Resources Management SDSU chapter, was most influential with my involvement in this important campus organization. The leadership positions I subsequently held in SHRM, along with Professor Dean’s guidance, were instrumental to my personal and professional growth. Overall, the range in management coursework and the resources provided to help build my professional network, proved essential for my transition into employment. As a management student, I cultivated my critical thinking and ability to adapt to a changing workplace climate. I would not be where I am today without the support from the Fowler College of Business faculty—I am especially grateful to the Management Department for investing in me and equipping me with the tools to pursue a multitude of opportunities post-graduation.

Gibran Mims, a management alumnus, continues to inspire change through his video podcast Speak Your Mind.
