Students broaden their perspectives and fully immerse themselves in American culture by joining American families during their stay in the United States. St. David’s School accepts international students who live in the area with parents or relatives, as well as those who come to us through New Oasis. They join their American classmates and become part of a very tight-knit community. Knowledge James Jiang ’15: China

James reads Thomas the Tank Engine to lower school children in his native language, Mandarin. James’s background as a Chinese student is valued, just as his exposure to the United States has been a benefit to him.

From the physics classroom to the football field, James has experienced all that St. David’s has to offer. James loves all the new experiences and said, “It’s been super wonderful to live with my host families,” adding, “I feel loved!” With a St. David’s education, he is now applying to competitive colleges and knows that he has the support he needs, saying “my American mom will help me” through the process of applying for college. James encourages other international students: “You have to come here yourself!”

“They’re my brothers, now!” said James of Luke and Austin, who hosted him in their home for his first year in the United States. They have remained close friends ever since, even though they have since gone off to college.
