DMN: How did a young Black woman start playing the harp? Who or what was your inspiration? MA: The harp and I chose each other, I had the opportunity to be exposed to the harp in high school, I had a teacher that had music appreciation month once a year and brought in instruments from the orchestra, violin, cello, French horn, and harp and do presentations on sound and classical music. Well when I saw the harp first of all it was so beautiful, I knew then I wanted to play it. Then when I heard the sound, it was over I wanted lessons immediately. My harpist teacher was in La Jolla, I told her I wanted to take private lessons and she said she only took serious students and she said that if I was to start and then stop, she was not interested in the type of student. All her students competed in competitions and were very serious. Thus my journey began, with a very non -traditional instrument not seen in our community. SDMN: How did you carve out your niche in terms of what type of music? MA: Hmm… how did I carve a niche, being classically trained I love classical music; however I was raised in a gospel, R&B atmosphere. I always wanted to take a traditional classical instrument and see if I could make it jazzier and R&B as you can see I got that opportunity. Several years later to go to a jazz and pop harp conference in Boston for about a week of workshops and lessons from top world jazz harpists. They were very cutting edge; it was at that workshop where I saw harpists taking popular songs doing these wonderful arrangements. I was hooked, it was incredible. So with that I began taking popular R&B and gospel music and creating my own arrangements. When I performed the music in public, they went into shock and had no idea you could do this on a classical instrument. My bookings increased 100% I knew then I had something special. SDMN: How are you received in the classical music world? MA: How was I received in Classical music…., I went to the University Of Arizona Tucson for Master Classes in harp performance. They had a serious harp department with the head of the department being a famous teacher and performer, her name is Dr. Carol McLaughlin. She had students from all over the world come and study harp. It was challenging in the since I was the only African American student in the department. They had very high standards and expectations, I never worked so hard. Once I made it through the first year I knew I could make it. There were a lot of tears. The other students didn’t speak to me, at that time it was extremely rare to see a person of color play that instrument, even though the harp is an ancient African instrument. I always knew that I would be successful; the spirit always told me to keep going no matter what the circumstances. SDMN: Why not here in San Diego? MA: More opportunities presented itself in Los Angeles than San Diego in a performance setting. SDMN: Usually musicians are eclectic when it comes to their spiritual belief systems, what do you believe? MA: I am very spiritual and not in the traditional sense I have a serious relationship with the Creator of this universe and I don’t take it lightly. I listen as spirit speaks to me. It has guided my journey and life in a most amazing way. I meditate and pray every morning at 5:00am. SDMN: What are you thinking when you’re playing for a crowd? MA: When I’m performing classical music with an orchestra, I’m thinking seriously about the music and my execution being perfect, it has to be perfect when you’re in an orchestral setting, no mistakes. When I’m in a smooth jazz or casual setting, I am free and I am excited about improvisation, self expression and working the crowd and having lots of fun. SDMN: What would like to give back if you had a chance to teach? MA: There are many facets to me. One of the most important aspects is leaving a legacy of music and entrepreneurship among our youth. As a matter fact; I do teach harp. I also have a program where I take young girls with me on my gigs as my personal assistant to give them exposure to another world they would not see. My hair business is to teach them as well a sense of self reliance and independence. How important it is to take care of your temple. “You are what you eat” so to speak. “Healthy living, healthy lifestyle. Stay beautiful!”

SDMN: Who is your favorite celebrity to play for and who would you like to play for or with? MA: If I had to choose an artist I would love to work with it would be Prince, he is so gifted and talented as a composer, arranger and artist. I really don’t have a favorite celebrity. SDMN: How was it like to play for the First Lady? MA: The First Lady, I loved performing for the First Lady of the United States Mrs. Michelle Obama, it was and is a very high honor. It is what I work for continuously, displaying my talents in that type of environment is where I’m most comfortable. It feels natural to perform at that level. Hindsight vs. Foresight

When I would ask my elders about my surroundings or a problem, they would always remind me that, “There’s a price attached too everything. You pay now or you pay later.” They had learned this lesson in hindsight. Foresight would have helped them fair much better. After spending 30 years behind the barber chair and meeting many different kinds of people, I have learned the lessons one can learn from experienced hindsight—lessons about what should have been done and the high price that was paid. But by listening to my clients both male and female, I also developed foresight. The focus of this editorial is the difference between the two. Has the modern day Black man lost his vision and his focus on foresight? Has he forgotten to reflect on the memories of hindsight? When segregation was the order of the day, whites lived on their side of the railroad tracks and Blacks lived on the other side, the poor side. Black Americans were forced to do business with Black Americans and Whites could do business with anybody they wanted to for the lowest price. When they came to the Black community I remember vividly that some Blacks would give whatever the white man wanted away for free thinking maybe that freebie would pay off one day. All Black businesses thrived, especially the dry cleaners and laundry mats since Blacks dared not go out on a Saturday night or to church on Sunday morning in their dirty work clothes from the week. However today, Black businesses have continued to decrease noticeably throughout the country. What happened to our two eyes, hindsight and foresight? It was only a few years ago that Blacks were the #2 race of people financially and socially. Now we have fallen down not to second place, but to the bottom politically, in education, jobs etc. We are barely breathing. What happened? We publicly declare that we talk to God, that our leaders have been called by Him to deliver His messages. If that is true, where is the message of foresight? We didn’t remember it in hindsight? What is the message then if it is so divine? Why hasn’t God told us that we are going backward? If the Supreme Being sent the message you’d think there would be some road signs that

EDITORIAL we could travel by and live by. We are at the bottom of the social totem pole and yet we declare we have hindsight and foresight. We Blacks need to go back to using that hindsight so that we can place the truth and reality where it should be. I was down at a particular business where I have placed my exhibit “400 Years Without a Comb.” White people stopped, looked, and asked questions. When Blacks passed the exhibit they wouldn’t even look at it. But there was a time though 100 years ago where they had no other place to shop, no other museum to visit because they were denied everywhere. They had to do business with Blacks. We depended on each other. We showed mutual appreciation and our businesses thrived to the point of envy. We Black folks have now gone blind and I guess we are using a seeing eye dog because we have lost our way. We are wandering around like the Israelites and we can’t see the next step before us. It is a sign of blindness to continue to use the excuse that Blacks will not work together. Working together begins with you. Until Next Week Willie Morrow

OMNILOGUE© - “All of us communicating with each other, so that we all come to a collective understanding, so that we all work toward the same goal.” © Vision… a better understanding of ourselves, each other, the Universe, the World, and the communities in which we live.

The Nehemiah Project – Part 1 Connect Create Collaborate Starting this week I will be rolling out The Nehemiah Project. Whether you are Christian, Jewish, Muslim or another faith, I recommend you get a copy of the Bible and read the book of Nehemiah, or read it on line. I will be using it as a template for what I believe will be necessary to (re)build San Diego’s African American community, and to rebuild distressed communities anywhere. The spirit of the Nehemiah Project is “The Beloved Community” developed by the Fellowship of Reconciliation (Please Google® or Bing® this!) and popularized by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It requires that every day our lives reflect the belief that “…all [people] are created equal...” It requires that we love our neighbors as ourselves. It suggests that distressed communities thrive when community members who have benefited from communities reinvest those benefits in the communities from which they came. This last point is critical! Let’s talk Black! Apartheid aka Jim Crow segregation in America officially ended in 1964 with the Civil Rights Act. Until that time, African Americans were SYSTEMATICALLY excluded from the benefits of being American BY LAW (…and you have to ask yourself, who were the lawmakers? Laws don’t make themselves). Since that time, many people, both Black and otherwise, have benefited from the expansion of Black labor and wealth outside of the Black community – to the detriment of the Black community. Some Blacks have become middle-class, upper-class and down right wealthy. Non-Blacks have benefited from Black workers and the wealth and government incentives that have followed them. But the interest on these Black investments has not been paid back to the Black community. Instead, the Black community has been left to rot in a Hell that is not of our own making. The only way out of Hell is through the gates of LOVE. This applies to every community, not just the African American community. And love must start within one’s self. How do you show that you love yourself? By serving and protecting the people in your own family and community. Ultimately, this encompasses the world community – the whole planet. But it starts with those who are closest to you. According to Nehemiah, it means building a protective wall of service around those you love – your community. Communities must then Connect, Create and Collaborate. NOTE: This is NOT an aggressive wall of preemptive, violent attack against perceived enemies. For example, a family that is not in debt does not have to fight a mortgage company to keep their house. The laborer does not have to fight the employer if the laborer becomes an independent entrepreneur. This is how love works. Self-sufficiency and self-determination are acts of self-love. This is the essence of the Nehemiah Project. CMH [Isley Brothers – Caravan of Love] clovis.honore@yahoo.com

Branding: The New Buzz Word! But What Is It? Branding isn’t just a logo. Your business’s purpose, focus, and image all combine to create your brand. Branding your business ensures others will know what you’re about. You gain loyalty. People build close bonds with brand identities. If your company delivers great services and has a great brand identity, people will remember you. You will become well known. You want the people who have not done business with you to still know who you are and what you do. They will remember to pick up the phone and call you before they call your competitor. Building a strong brand creates a sense of individuality. The goal of branding is to be known for who you are as a person/organization and what you stand for. Your brand is a reflection of who you are, your opinions, values, and beliefs that are visibly expressed by what you say and do, and how you do it. The Branding process allows you to take control of your identity and influence the perception others will have about you and the services you offer. *A strong brand will enable you to effortlessly attract clients and opportunities, a powerful advantage over the competition. *Dominate your market! Work Less and make more through referrals and word of mouth advertising. *Your brand will propel you to the top in your marketplace. Now it’s time to take your efforts online! You must do this! *It is necessary for businesses to have an online presence to stay competitive. An effective internet branding, just like its offline counterpart, helps bring awareness to your unique business offering and drive customer demand. *In order for it to be effective one needs to attract and engage its customers. Branding is not as easy as putting up a website and adding your company logo and slogan. Your internet branding strategy should make your online brand noticeable and apparent. *Branding utilizes hi-tech tools to create an

online presence for your business. Graphics and animation, a compelling web copy, and overall website design that reflect your company are some of the important elements that will bring your online brand alive. An attractive website that helps customers easily and quickly find the information they need is the key to getting customer interaction and eventually, business. Your branding plan should include good design elements and ease of use to create an effective overall impression. Everyone has a website, So What? But what websites get them abundant business leads and profits? *A strong online image will make the difference between a customer or a strategic partner who uses you or uses one of your competitors. *A lot depends on the impression they get from your site. Branding seeks to convey an immediate unique message about your business to your target clients. *What exactly is a brand? It’s a question that has confounded the academics for decades. A brand consists of 8 basic blocks: -The Name -The Logo (brand icon) -The Brand’s Colors -The Slogan and Brand Message -The Sound of the Brand -The Overall Look and Feel= The Brand’s Position -Packaging the Brand -The Brand Experience So the Total Brand is all these elements together!

To date, General Motors and the General Motors Foundation are among the largest sponsors of the King memorial, having donated more than $10 million to the Washington, DC Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, Inc. Both are committed to raising public awareness of the Memorial in the nation’s capital. The Memorial will be positioned in a direct line between the Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials on the National Mall, where King delivered his most famous speech on Aug. 28, 1963. The centerpiece of the Memorial, the "Stone of Hope," will feature a 30-foot likeness of King made of natural elements. It will contain excerpts of his sermons and public addresses to serve as living testaments of his vision of America. It will be the first memorial on the National Mall to honor someone other than a U.S. President. “We are deeply grateful to General Motors and the General Motors Foundation for their consistent and steadfast support, which has helped build the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in our nation’s capital,” said Harry E. Johnson, Sr., president and CEO of the Washington, DC Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, Inc. “We look forward to the conversations the Table of Brotherhood project tour will create and are certain they will be a meaningful prelude to the August 28 dedication of our nation’s memorial to Dr. King, one of the world’s most influential leaders.”

Just Keeping It Real With Angela Harris Relationship Discussions

A complete strand of pearls (part 3 of the pearl to be continued next week) Well we come to the end of this particular journey regarding the worth of woman. We began with the consideration of the timeless pearl and its uniqueness just like woman, there are no two alike. Then we explored the dangers of casting your pearls among swine, giving the best of you to those undeserving. We will close with the joy of knowing and embracing how complete we are - lacking absolutely nothing. When we can accept the fact that we have everything we need within our grasp and our power to be all that we can be, and not meaning the army, when we are willing to put all that we are to work accomplishing the things we’ve been called to do, it is then that we can make the declaration that we are a complete strand of pearls, a complete component - lacking nothing and yet able to do all things through Christ who strengthens US. It is when we realize no one can add to us or take anything away from us. No one can define us, label us, discard us, marginalize us, or up root us because we are our own person, designed to perfection. We are all drawn from the same spirit but are a cast of many members, many individuals with many different skills and abilities. With that knowledge we are able to embrace the gifts and talents bestowed upon each of us with joy, purpose, and absolute assurance that what’s for each of us is for us. Here’s the concept. Each part of your body plays a distinct role for good reason. Your feet allow you to stand, your hands give you the ability pick things up, your heart is the muscle that pumps blood throughout your body, your eyes allow you to see, and your nose gives you the ability to smell. In it of themselves, each stands on its own, but together they create an unstoppable force that gives you the wherewithal to do all things. Imagine what it would be like if you had no feet? Imagine what it would be like if you had no mouth? See all can’t be a heart, all can’t be a nose, but each component creates a whole being, a being equipped for every good work. One may sing, another may write the songs, one may design, another may sew, one may write, another may have the ability to edit. One may be a mother and another may have a business mind. Neither is exceptional just different. None is better than another we simply function within the realm of our purpose, our gifts, and our talents. Now our effectiveness is directly linked to our ability to excel within our gifts and talents. So as we began a few days ago we will end, you are a timeless jewel, a unique precious gem. There are no two like you, so why try to be someone other than yourself. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are a complete strand of pearls no one can add or take anything away from you! People may enter your life who may enhance some qualities about you, but no one has the ability to recreate the perfect YOU that has already been created by the Creator. Like the pearl, no one can begin to try to recreate its exact replica the same is true for you. Embrace YOU! Learn to love and respect YOU.

Road Trip - College Bound part 2 The very next step to planning a successful Road Trip is to purchase a First Aid kit or prepare one. Most people forget them and don’t realize how beneficial they are before hitting the road. If you don’t want to purchase one you can put some things together on your own. Here are some things that I recommend: Band aids, gauze, peroxide, rubbing alcohol, Neosporin, towel, wash cloth, aspirin, tums, pepto bizmal, pain killer (Tylenol, aspirin, Excedrin, Motrin), allergy medicine, Kleenex, wipes, cotton, scissors, knife, and gloves. Depending on where you are planning to go to school will determine how much you will need. So lets start with California. We all know that it can get expensive eating out during a road trip as well taking up valuable time eating that could be spent driving to your destination. I suggest that you take a cooler with some sandwiches, snacks, treats and drinks to quench your desire to pull over. Packing sandwich meat of your choice on ice and or dry ice can save hundreds of dollars. Make sure that you pack the condiments separately so the bread doesn’t get soggy. Lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickles can go in handy Tupperware so they won’t go bad. The newer rental cars normally have DVD players which is helpful for long drives. IPods are necessary for an array of music selections. I have found that including a selection of comedians to the entertainment line up is so helpful; especially if you are driving more than 4 hours. There is nothing like laughter to ease the stress of being in the same car with the same people for 4 hours and you still have 4 more hours to go. I remember driving to Howard University as a family to drop off my sister to school, on day 2 we about had it with each other. My sister said, Sissy, do something, I was afraid at how our parents might react but I put in some good ole Richard Pryor. In minutes the whole car was filled with laughter and the stress and turmoil was lifted. In addition to watching DVDs, listening to music, reading books, and listening to comedians, I would add games that you can play as a family. Personally, I would give everyone a game that they would be the leader of to create camaraderie as well as give everyone a chance to take part in playing a game. You can purchase $5 gift cards or pre-wrap gifts for the winner of the game (this will surely get everyone involved with anticipation of being the winner). One game that I love to play is Sing-a-long, you have to sing a whole entire song without messing up the words (the national anthem, black anthem, RESPECT, or any song of your choice), no mumbling allowed. Another game to play is Bingo. You can add different ways to win other than a straight line which can make it fun and keep the interest of all for hours. WORK, NO PLAY

R

ather than taking time off to enjoy the summer like all good Americans, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has announced that the Senate will cut their vacation short to work on the budget—only taking Monday, July 4th, off and then return to work on July 5th. Sen. Harry Reid says this, “The work we’re doing to cut the deficits and create jobs is too important, the obstacles too steep and the time too short to waste even a moment,” Reid said. “There’s still so much to do to put American back to work and cut our deficits.” It has been told that lawmakers must raise the nation’s $14.3 trillion legal borrowing limit soon. The Treasury Department says that on Aug. 2 it will run out of money to pay the nation’s bills in full and on time. That deadline is now just weeks away. Republicans have always demanded that any deal to raise the debt ceiling including deep spending cuts, but they have always been reluctant to consider measures favored by Democrats that would increase revenue. In making the announcement of no July 4th recess, Reid has predicted that failure to raise the debt ceiling would plunge the economy into a “full-fledged depression.” The House is out of town, with lawmakers working in home districts this week and on recess July 4. However they will be back in Washington July 6. However, Congress need not be in session to get a deal to raise the debt ceiling. A small group of Republican and Democratic leaders have been working with the White House behind closed doors. Senate aides quietly wondered how much actual work lawmakers would do next week, or whether the announcement is a publicity stunt. But the pressure to look busy mounted, after President Obama’s criticism of lawmakers for failing to deliver a compromise to raise the debt ceiling and cut deficits. Several Senate Republicans called on Reid to cancel the recess. “Our country is going bankrupt. We shouldn’t be going home on a holiday,” said Ron Johnson of Wisconsin. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell made a public invitation to President Obama to “come on over,” to the Capitol Thursday to broker a deal, in a speech on the Senate floor. “He says he wants us to start working and I can’t think of a better way than for him to come up today,” said McConnell, a Kentucky Republican. Brendan Buck, spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner, said a Senate in session was better than one in recess. “In terms of accomplishments, there hasn’t been much difference this year between the Senate in session and the Senate in recess,” Buck said. “Still, if we’re going to put together a serious package to cut spending, any sign of life over there is a good thing.” If America is going to get back on its feet from this recession, then members of Congress needs to stop pointing fingers. This is beginning to be non-sense. From the Government Shutdown, to now this? Republicans needs to consider the Democrats’ measures to save our country. The Democrats have given enough leg-room for Republicans to swim in. But really stop thinking what’s the best interest for your party, start thinking for America. The American people is much as Liberal as it is Conservative and vice versa. Our Country is Diverse; accept that! To contact me via email: princesefab@gmail.com and follow me on Facebook.

EATING TO CLEANSE By Lady Topaz During an intense, full body cleanse, the goal with your diet is simple: it is to minimize the workload on your digestive organs while supplying your body with enough energy to carry out its everyday activities. Cleansing is performed primarily by your body’s self-regulated cleansing mechanisms, not by the nutrients in the foods that you eat. Vegetables, fruits, and their juices are excellent food choices for an intense, full body cleanse for the following reasons: 1. For most people, vegetables and fruits are extremely easy to digest. 2. Vegetables and fruits are naturally rich in water; staying hydrated is an essential requirement for an intense, full body cleanse. For the vast majority of people, grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, and all cooked animal foods are harder to digest than vegetables and fruits. So for an intense period of cleansing, it is best to avoid everything but vegetables, fruits, their juices, and water. How to Prepare for an Intense, Full Body Cleanse Before beginning, it is ideal to take a week or at least a few days to taper your intake of the following: Coffee, Alcohol, Salt, Sugar and other sweeteners All animal foods, including dairy, eggs, fish, shellfish, chicken, beef, pork, and all other flesh meats These foods put significant strain on your digestive organs, and avoiding them “cold turkey” can sometimes create withdrawal symptoms that are too powerful for some people to tolerate. It is fine to eat grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds right up until the day before you begin your intense period of detox - these foods are rich in fiber, and their remains should move through your digestive tract without too much

difficulty during your intense cleanse. If you do not wish to spend up to a week to taper your intake of the foods listed above, it is perfectly okay to begin right away; just be aware that you may experience highly uncomfortable symptoms of withdrawal, like strong headaches, lightheadedness, and nausea. You may not. Other than tapering the foods-to-avoid during your cleanse, all that remains during the preparatory phase is to make sure that your kitchen is well stocked with vegetables and fruits that you enjoy! Here is a list of vegetables and fruits that can be used for a highly effective cleanse: Dark green, leafy lettuce (romaine, red leaf, green leaf – NO Iceberg), Avocados, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Celery, Carrots, Red beets (one or two will last a week), Zucchini, Bell peppers, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Asparagus, Onions, Corn, Yukon gold or new potatoes, Sweet potatoes or yams, Acorn or butternut squash, Watermelon, Honeydew, Cantaloupe, Pears, Apples, Bananas, Mangoes, Papaya, Peaches, Plums, Nectarines, Grapes, Coconut, Oranges and grapefruit, Blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, goji berries, and any other berries that you enjoy. Any other fruits or vegetables that you enjoy raw or juiced. Clearly, it’s best to choose fruits and vegetables that are in season. Organic varieties are best, but my experience has been that nonorganic produce can also be used to experience an intense period of detox. Regarding liquids: Have on hand plenty of water that you feel comfortable drinking. When weighed against all of the moment-tomoment dietary and lifestyle factors that affect your health, so long as your water is not intentionally poisoned, even municipal tap water can be used to experience a highly effective cleanse. You may drink warm or hot water. Some say that it is fine to use sparkling mineral water as you desire, although you should mainly drink “still” water during your cleanse. Regarding medications: Please do not taper or stop taking prescription medications without your physician’s consent. Regarding nutritional supplements: Avoid any supplements that contain synthetic nutrients, protein isolates, grains, nuts, seeds, or lecithin. It’s fine to take whole food supplements that contain nothing but vegetables and/or fruits. It’s also fine to take a probiotic as long as it does not have added protein, grains, nuts, seeds, or lecithin. Regarding equipment: If you can chew your foods well, you don’t need much by way of equipment. If you have access to a strong blender and a juicer, you can make smoothies and juices during your intense cleanse, but this is not absolutely necessary. Stay tuned next week for Sample Cleansing menus that anyone can follow. ************************* *********************** For additional information on healthy, holistic, nutritional supplements that will assist you with your healthy lifestyle visit Topaz’s website at: www.sherrytheus.isagenix.com or email her with your thoughts and/or inquiries at topazstjames@gmail.com. ************************* ***********************

What Is DIABETES? By Grady P. Anderson, Jr., M.D. As most people know that and what has been published in the literature is an AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE. Let me define this for you. Autoimmune is a medical condition in which your body is attacking itself. To put it more clearly there is a rebellion taking place in your body similar to what is happening in Greece and the Middle Eastern countries. There is an organization JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) that is meeting in Washington, D.C. this to week to meet and discuss the problem. This topic was being discussed this morning on C-SPAN. Some statistics that were put forward were 60 million diabetics and 2 million new diabetics were added in 2010 that were added. Now that is a lot of people and this also brings up the cost of providing care for these individuals. Several callers raised excellent questions and comments. One of which was the use of Colloidal Minerals that the guest on the program had no idea of this substance. I have had experience with this product. I learned about product more than twenty years ago from another Orthopaedic Surgeon. That doctor told me of his personal experience with a skin cancer known as Malignant Melanoma, his tumor had spread or metastized to the bone as evidenced by MRI scan. One of his patients gave him another non prescription product to try along with some research by the company who made the product and he started to take the product and in three months while also taking his chemotherapy his tumor was completely gone. In his office he had a bottle of the colloidal minerals which purchased from him and started

to take myself which was listed on the label as 1 capful in an 8oz glass of water before meals. It worked my blood pressure was lowered to 118/60, heart rate 70 beats/min; EKG showed normal and no evidence of cardiac muscle hypertrophy. All this occured over a six week period of time. The caller who spoke about Colloidal Minerals shared the story of his mother who is now 80 years old who started the colloidal minerals and was able to get off of insulin after about 2-3 years. Now if you body is attacking itself the question to ask is why is it attacking itself. Since your body cannot make INSULIN the insulin you are taking is different from that your body makes genetically. That would mean that you would start out on a lower dose but because it is not yours; your immune system will gradually make antibodies to this foreign protein in the insulin. Over time this will result in the use of increasing strengths of insulin to achieve the “normal blood sugar levels” needed for survival. The problems with the elevated blood sugar are the pathology and other disease processes that it causes. Renal failure leads to dialysis; blindness; heart disease; stroke; amputation of lower extremities. You need a good functioning immune system.
