E-2 Seaman Apprentice (SA) Introduction to the USNSCC Recite the Sailor's Creed. Distinguish between the USN and USNSCC core values. General Military Knowledge Customs and Courtesies Explain the meaning of military bearing. Explain proper treatment of the flag. Interpret basic forms of naval communication. Describe the overall meaning of the 11 General Orders. Drill and Ceremony Identify and define basic drill commands. Perform the various commands with confidence and accuracy. Distinguish between Distance, Interval and Depth. Assemble formations based on distance and interval. Seamanship Identify various naval vessels based on type. Identify and effectively tie a set of basic sailing knots. Describe basic components of ships or boats. Explain the basic requirements for standing a proper watch in addition to setting, relieving, and keeping the deck log. History, Leadership, and Ethics History and Heritage Explain the origins of the United States Navy. Identify major technological achievements during the Age of Sail. Conduct research about the Navy's first 75 years of history.


Leadership and Ethics Identify different patterns of followership. Distinguish between traditional history and case study approaches. Identify the 14 leadership traits as outlined by the USMC. Differentiate between what is ethical, legal, and moral. Identify the four main processes of ethical decision-making. Apply leadership and ethics to the case of John McCain during his time as a POW in Vietnam. Personal and Professional Conduct Health and Wellness Explain the various standards of appearance and physical fitness required by the Navy more broadly and the Sea Cadet program specifically. Describe the conditions in which you will likely reside during drill weekends and recruit or leadership training. Perform detailed procedures for the proper wear and care of your uniform. Identify the physical fitness requirements for the NSCC. Conduct and Safety Perform basic first aid procedures, namely early intervention and response. Recite the varied policies and requirements within the Sea Cadet program as they pertain to the use and misuse of drugs and alcohol. Recall the NSCC policies against hazing and other forms of harassment. Describe responsible and respectful uses of social media platforms.
