E-1 Seaman Recruit (SR) Introduction to the USNSCC Describe the history and mission of the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps. Identify the structure and organization of your Home Units. Recall the general expectations of all cadets. Identify fundamental military courtesies. Discuss basic tips for a successful first drill. General Military Knowledge Describe the NSCC chain of command and its importance. Distinguish between civilian and military time. Use the phonetic alphabet. Differentiate between Navy ranks and rates. Define various basic Navy and Sea Cadet terminologies helpful for recruits. Military Customs and Courtesies Properly address naval personnel by rank and surname. Perform a hand salute, and know when to do so. Describe the positions of attention and rest when in formation. Follow quarterdeck procedures. Identify the 11 general orders. Cadet Conduct and Safety Recall the basic working uniform requirements for the Sea Cadets. Adopt standards of acceptable personal hygiene and grooming. Perform the Training Time Out when necessary. Use additional tips and information for successful drill weekends. History, Leadership, and Ethics Describe the NSCC naval history, leadership, and ethics framework. Explain followership as the foundation of leadership. Identify the key USMC leadership traits. Describe the NSCC's four ethical processes.
