Seabrook Hires Chavez as Economic Development Director SEABROOK, TX – October 11, 2011 – The City of Seabrook has a new director of economic development. Former marketing director for Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership, Paul Chavez, is set to begin this role on November 1, 2011. “Paul’s experience with the local market, our sister cities and area industries will be an invaluable addition to the City’s economic development efforts,” said Kelly Templin, Deputy City Manager of Seabrook. “His familiarity with the Seabrook Economic Development Corporation and their current projects makes him a great fit for the job.” Chavez has been the BAHEP marketing director since 2003, and he has served in that same capacity for the City of Brownsville and in the private sector. He held the position of economic director for the City of Los Fresnos, where he also served as the interim city manager. “Paul has valuable knowledge regarding prospect development, market research and grant acquisition and administration,” stated Ernie Davis, President of the Seabrook EDC. “As we continue to focus on key waterfront development projects, business growth initiatives and city infrastructure programs, we will be tapping into his broad skill set.” A graduate of York College with a bachelor of science in marketing, Chavez also holds a master of business in human resource management. He is a graduate of the Economic Development Institute, Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service for Economic Development and he has completed coursework with the Foundation Center on proposal and grant writing.
