Useful information

Sailing across the Atlantic on a classic route is the ultimate windjammer discipline – and for many, a true lifelong goal. Our SEA CLOUDS travel across the ocean with the steady trade winds and become the most beautiful destination themselves.

The elemental force of the trade winds

Thanks to the trade winds, sailing conditions in winter are ideal for an Atlantic crossing. This steady wind is created when the sun warms the air on the surface of the sea near the equator and causes it to rise. It flows towards the poles and descends again when cooling down. To the satisfaction of our tall ships, because the trade winds guide them across the ocean with reliable force.

With bulging sails towards the Caribbean

From the Canary Islands, our modern sailing ships fi rst set a course southward where, at the height of the Cape Verde Islands, the trade winds begin to fi ll the sails. Then the journey turns westward to the Caribbean. Every nautical mile takes you a little closer to summer. For about two weeks, the SEA CLOUDS enjoy optimal conditions and frequently run under sail even overnight.

Time for the ocean, time for you

Escaping your daily routine for a whole fortnight, enjoying the ultimate sailing experience and true relaxation – the Atlantic crossing is the perfect voyage to rest your mind.
