Santa’s Sleigh
Seaford Rotary is hoping to be able to accompany Father Christmas around the streets of Seaford to bring some Christmas cheer in the weeks before Christmas, as we have done for over 60 years. Due however to the Government’s decision in early November to impose a national Lockdown until 2nd December, and the possibility of further restrictions in December, it is not possible to let you know which routes Father Christmas will take, if and when he is able to visit Seaford this December.

If Government restrictions are lifted such that it is considered safe to take Father Christmas on his sleigh around the town, Seaford Rotary will only do so with additional controls in place to maintain the necessary social distancing and to protect Father Christmas and all who may wish to see him. The sleigh will have protective screen sides to prevent any direct contact with Father Christmas and keep him socially distanced from those wishing to see him. There will also be no door to door collection by Rotarians or distribution of sweets.
The Rotarians accompanying the sleigh will be wearing face coverings and will ensure that those who wish to speak to Father Christmas maintain social distances around the sleigh. Please look out for news ivy will be by

A Socially Distanced Handover of Bishopstone Station Planters
The formal handover of two planters at Bishopstone Station to the ‘Friends of Bishopstone Station’ occurred on 30th October, when President Martin McGill presented the planters to their Chair Barbara Mine. The planters had been filled with suitable plants including pruning of the the ‘Friends of Bishopstone Station’. Paradise Park has agreed to provide new plants in the spring next year.

Early in 2020, Seaford Rotary received a request from the ‘Friends of Bishopstone Station’ for a donation to assist with the purchase of two new planters for the station platform. It was intended that these two planters would be the same as those at Seaford Station provided by Seaford Martello Rotary.
In March however, due to the coronavirus pandemic lockdown, the project to supply the planters was put on hold. It was not until the relaxation of the pandemic rules in the summer months that an order for the planters could be actioned. Commenting on the handover, President Martin McGill said that it was good to be able hand over these planters to the community, as due to the coronavirus pandemic restrictions, it was only the second time that he had been able to carry out his formal duties since becoming President in July.
Wreath Laying at the War Memorial
This year, due to the social distance restrictions, the annual remembrance laying of wreaths at the war memorial on Remembrance Sunday was not able to take place.
The Town Council asked that those organisations who would normally partake in the commemoration by donated by Paradise Park. Watering and maintenance,
in the week before Remembrance Sunday. Thus, on 4th November, in remembrance of those who gave up their lives for their country, President Martin McGill laid a wreath on the memorial on behalf of Seaford Rotary.
