Seaford Stamp & Post Card Club

It’s great to be getting back to ‘normal’! For the first time since the Autumn we were able to hold our monthly meeting at the Constitutional Club, all socially distanced with masks and good ventilation of course, but masks were optional whilst we were sitting down. Most of our membership turned up and we had a very enjoyable evening. We started by ratifying official business at an ‘Extraordinary AGM.’ and then the members presented items on the theme of ‘J, K, & L’. You never know what is going to turn up, which is part of the fun of these evenings.

The range of topics was very broad and included a 1908 Japanese letter sheet posted on board a French Paquebot ship, Klaipeda, plus items on Central Lithuania, Chinese Junk ships, The Statue of Liberty, postcards of Kingsmead School and a few letters written by Tufton Beamish (Lewes MP) when he was a student there, GVI stamps of Kenya, Jugoslavia (now Yugoslavia), Katakana, Luxembourg, Jolly Jack Tar (ephemera, stamps postal history and postcards of New Zealand shipping), King & Country Killing Zones (mainly ephemera, stamps and postal history from Egypt and the South African Boer War) and finally ‘Job 9’ which was the code name at the start of WW2 for Tristan da
